We’re looking for an Accounting Policy Specialist to:

  • Provide technical accounting advice to the Group and Divisional CFOs and their teams. This gives you the opportunity to understand their businesses, their challenges and objectives, and work together to find practical solutions.
  • Provide a rigorous analysis under IFRS of new and complex transactions (including Mergers & Acquisitions). You will discuss directly with the business, with the M&A team and help them consider the accounting effects resulting from new transactions and products of UBS.
  • Advise on how the accounting policy for Invested Assets and Fee Generating Assets (important KPIs of UBS) applies to new products and transactions.
  • Work within virtual teams across Finance and beyond, on a variety of projects, for example, changing the structure of UBS or implementing new regulatory requirements, bringing in expertise from other Group Accounting Policy (GAP) team members from other regions as and when required.
  • Assist in the standard setting process and implementation of new accounting policy requirements through i. Contributing views and suggestions to the GAP discussions and comment letter process in order to develop the UBS view ii. Represent UBS at industry discussions, iii. Develop presentations and training materials, iv. Join working groups implementing the new standard, v. Develop and document the UBS policy view.

Your team

You’ll be part of the Group Accounting Policy team in Zurich and globally. We are a team of highly trained accounting subject matter experts that advise and fully support all Business Divisions and Group Functions on IFRS accounting issues.

Your expertise

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, Swiss CPA or equivalent) with a university degree
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience
  • Proficient with International Accounting Standards (Swiss GAAP knowledge would be an additional advantage)
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, banking and banking products gained at a large financial services organization and/or through training with one of the Big Four accountancy firms (preferably in a technical accounting team or accounting advisory role)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with staff at all levels
  • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Fluent in English is required, German is a strong plus
  • Hands-on solution oriented mentality, pro-activity, flexibility and commitment are key.
