The position of Algo Power Trader is part of Alpiq’s Asset Trading business unit and focuses on developing and implementing automated short term trading strategies together with the Third-Party Asset Trading team. This unique role is multifaceted in that it requires both fundamental understanding of power markets as well as the ability to build and develop data analytics and trading strategies. This position is a great opportunity for somebody with relevant modelling experience who enjoys working in a fast pace trading environment and wants to become part of a great team of specialists. It is based at our offices in Olten, Switzerland.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Developing and modelling new trading strategies based on algorithms, machine-learning as well as statistical analysis together with a team of experienced traders
  • Analyzing, visualizing and back testing trading ideas based on latest market developments for optimal implementation and risk management
  • Daily assessment and analysis of trading performance and sharing the results with your team colleagues will be key to react and adapt quickly to changed market conditions
  • Ensuring and mentoring all team members be able to maintain and adjust all strategy`s in operation at any time 365 days 24/7
  • Helping us to further develop our future set up for becoming a leading team in an algo trading environment on short-term power market level
Your Qualifications
  • Above average academic background with a Master’s degree or higher in, e.g., business, economics, engineering, mathematics or physics
  • Excellent Programming skills in Python, R, C-sharp desirable
  • Experience in modelling fundamental and mathematical models for power markets
  • Ability/Experience to turn analysis into trading strategies and taking commercial responsibility for it
  • Result-orientated, independent working method with high reliability and readiness to take on responsibility
  • Great team player ready to share concepts and tools for the common goal
  • Fluent English
