The role:

Reporting to the local Country Manager, the main responsibility of the Area Sales Manager (m/w/d) is to meet quotas that the company has defined. These quotas include realizing net sales targets, distribution targets and increasing portfolio at our customers. The Area Sales Manager (m/w/d) is responsible for leading, coaching and performance management of a team of Sales Representatives and Business Development Managers. In addition, the Area Sales Manager (m/w/d) is managing relationships with Key Accounts. Main tasks include building a sales plan, assigning sales territories, setting quotas and controlling customer trade terms. The Area Sales Manager works together with Customer Service, Marketing and Education to create a world-class customer experience.

This is a full-time position based in Switzerland. You will cover the Romandy region.

What you will do:

  • Formulate strategies and action plans to maximize net sales and profitability of responsible Sales team according to Kao Switzerland strategies, policies and targets. Ensure focus and meet target of the team on new customer acquisition.
  • Provide guidance of a daily, monthly, and quarterly sales work plan in accordance with the formulated strategies.
  • Manage, develop, coach, control and motivate the sales force to develop their skill to ensure that a high professional standard according to KAO Switzerland standard is achieved.
  • Manage Sales team to ensure targets are delivered through people management, performance review, reward and individual recognition.
  • Monitoring / KPI’s
  • evaluate local market data, customer feedbacks and insights in the own area
  • Be responsible for reporting and Performance Monitoring of the direct sales channel
  • Preparation of analyses and presentation
  • Conduct regular sales and business reviews to evaluate Sales team performance.
  • Monitor and ensure a highly efficient tour planning of Sales- and BDM-team. Monitor and stick to the given individual ASM & Team budget ("Retouren", "Gutscheine", ASM Budget etc.)
  • Recruit new staff into team focusing on strong sales competencies and ensure that they perform well through coaching and monitoring skill
  • Regular personal contact to the TOP 25 customer within the Sales Area and maintain these relationships.
  • Represent KAO Switzerland AG at industry events, customer events etc.

What you will need:

  • Graduate with Bachelor degree or equivalent („eidg. Verkaufsleiter„) with business, marketing and sales or related field of study
  • Experience in Area Sales Management at least 3 years, prior experience in Beauty / Hair industry and/or sales is preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate sales record (3+ years) at a high level of achievement
  • Experience in managing and directing a sales team
  • Experienced user of MS Office, Outlook and SAP
  • SAP BI knowledge (Business Intelligence)•Experience in evaluations of sales KPI’s
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Fluent in German & English, French as an advantage
  • Confident, Self-Motivated, multi-taks individual who requires minimal supervision and can work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational & planning skills
  • Analysis - Ability to understand and analyse strategic objectives of the business and develop / implement appropriate plans that deliver to targets set. Highly developed commercial acumen and comfortable with analytics, data and numbers
  • Strategic Thinking – ability to analyze, understand core areas of opportunity and develop holistic plans to execute change and bring about improved performance/results
  • Decision making – ability to decide fast & smart, in consideration with the company targets. Problem solving attitude
  • Communication – ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, clear priorities and progress tied to business results and cascade in the team
  • Customer strategic alignment/execution – ability to make choices on key projects which will have the highest potential for business return
  • Leadership – leading the Local Sales team, in the defined area, to deliver the given Net Sales targets and individual objectives
