As Assistant in the Coffee Sensory Laboratory, you will assist the Sensory Specialist and Panel leaders in all practical aspect of sensory testing and follow sensory laboratory good practices

A day in the life of an Assistant of the Coffee Sensory Laboratory

  • Administer sensory tests following the Sensory Specialist’s and Panel Leaders instructions and according to best practices (build session in sensory software, prepare and code samples, provide samples to panelists
  • Manage products under tests (procurement, storage and disposal)
  • Provide support in screening, training and monitoring performance of internal and external panels or provide support on those activities.
  • Maintain records of external panel attendance and administers panels information
  • Responsible for implementing good laboratory practices and safe laboratory behavior
  • Keep sensory equipment and facilities clean, organized and operational. Order material/supplies as required and suggests improvements
  • Administers products under tests as well as sensory references (incl. manufacturing, ordering if relevant)

What Will Make You Successful
  • Studies as laboratory Technician or CFC with significant experience
  • Experience in sensory laboratory and knowledge of sensory evaluation methods is a strong plus
  • Strong interest in Coffee Products
  • Technical training in scientific or food-related field is a plus
  • Planning and organizational skills combined with proactivity
  • Ability to work autonomously but with a strong service orientation
  • Communication & relational skills
  • Computer literate MS Office
  • Fluent in French
  • Good knowledge of English (oral and written)
