Location: Geneva headquarters, Switzerland
We are seeking an objective-oriented Assistant Scientist specialized in analytical chemistry to join a dynamic research program. The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary discovery team and collaborate with members of the company’s global R&D community driven by industrial applications. In particular, the candidate has strong skillset and background knowledge in sample preparation, qualitative and quantitative analysis of natural oil compositions and volatiles and data processing, as well as interest in developing new analytical methods. Additional interest in automation of processes, and other scientific fields, such as biology, environmental sciences and agriculture, will be an advantage. Applicants must have good oral and written communication skills and be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and international team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Apply state-of-the-art analytical methods (e.g., GC-MS and LC-MS) and explore advanced technologies to support the laboratory head in delivering scientific results on time
Plan, automate and execute experiments to build knowledge and answer analytical questions with the ability to take initiatives
Identify technical problems and actively propose solutions
Report work progress in laboratory notebooks, technical reports and presentations
Participate in the maintenance of analytical instruments and laboratory equipment, and monitoring chemical inventory
Proactively interact with members of other groups in interdisciplinary projects
We Value
BSc/MSc in Chemistry or CFC with at least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the flavours & fragrances industry, environmental chemistry, agricultural chemistry, pharmaceutical industry, or related fields
Expertise in sample preparation, separation science (e.g., GC, HPLC) and identification of organic compounds (e.g., MS, NMR), automation of protocols, good knowledge of chemical structures and data processing, especially for analysis of volatiles
Interest in other scientific fields (e.g., biology, environmental sciences, biochemistry) and in innovative analytical techniques
Willing to learn new skills and curious
Knowledge of English and French (oral and written), and/or motivation to improve language skills
Good communication skills to interact with members of other teams and pro-active problem-solving attitude
