THE OPPORTUNITY – GLOBAL DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT CAPABILITY LEAD

Our Digital Marketing team is innovating in how we understand our patients and their needs. Working cross functionally we are inventing new ways of communicating, measuring and interacting with our customers and patients through digital channels and technologies.

In this role, you will help our Company make strategic decisions with digital, data, and analytics to ensure that we are best placed to bring our innovations to customers and patients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This role will join the Digital Engagement Capabilities team with two areas of focus:

  • To be an active member of a cross functional team working on end-to-end global launches with an Omni-channel focus
  • To help build and mature Customer Engagement Capabilities within Human Health

A substantial proportion of our work is achieved through cross functional teams working on high priority business problems, so experience of working in an agile environment would be advantageous.

The requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have robust business acumen in the field of digital marketing and a deep technical understanding

  • Digital marketing: Strong experience in digital marketing and related digital engagement capabilities such as Customer Portals, Marketing Automation and Virtual Events, with subject matter expertise in Marketing and Digital, ideally in pharma or healthcare. Specific experience with SalesForce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) is a must as well as an overall understanding of customer engagement capabilities and their positioning and integration in a capability ecosystem.
  • Business acumen: Ability to synthesize data/insights into actionable business recommendations as well as successful management experience in different departments, including sales and marketing in a pharmaceutical or other comparable large organization.
  • Technical knowledge: Ability to work with IT Product owner on an equal footing to drive the design, development and integration of digital engagement capability features that will scale rapidly from ideation to implementation. Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with various business units and senior leaders. A highly collaborative working style is required, with the ability to influence and lead change while building strong cross-functional partnerships. You must also be a creative thinker, with confidence and ability to challenge established thinking.
  • Change management skills: Strong ability to demonstrate change management skills with ability to lead, advocate, influence, and collaborate across various functions at all levels. You must have strong project and people management skills, with intellectual curiosity and the ability to create a vision as well as execute complex initiatives in matrix structures.
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited university. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Digital Marketing operations experience preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum 5 years of user experience with SalesForce Marketing Cloud or related digital engagement technology and technology integration – experience with MSD’s customer engagement ecosystem is a plus
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of digital, data and analytics practices, policies, trends, and other information affecting the company’s business in global markets
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing global integrated digital marketing outcomes and commercial programs, including developing business cases and investment recommendations.
  • Proven execution skills, with the ability to ensure an agile, collaborative, and high-performance ways of working.
  • Experience leading in matrix structures, with a strong capability to engage with and influence others.
  • Ability to direct the resolution of highly complex business challenges.
  • Interest and understanding of the needs of diverse customer groups, including physicians, consumers, payors, policymakers, and others.
  • Capability to synthesize data and insights from global franchises and markets to translate them into recommendations for in market execution.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment.

This role will report to Philippe Kirby, Director, Marketing Comm/Channels, and have the following responsibilities:

A key member of the Digital Engagement Capabilities (DEC) team, embedded within the global Digital Marketing and Commercial Excellence cohort, you will lead cross-functional expert and commercial teams (IT Product Owners, Marketing, GPO and other expertise as needed) to evolve our digital engagement capabilities in support of product launches over a 2–3-year horizon Accelerate our product launches and enhance campaign execution by:

  • Identifying new channels, technologies and data sources that need to be added to our current customer engagement ecosystem
  • Testing and scaling digital marketing use cases and capabilities with key markets to deliver industry leading customer engagement capabilities
  • Working with key global markets, In collaboration with the DMO and Content Capability teams, to collect demand and define customer engagement ecosystem roadmaps and requirements for marketing automation, customer portals, virtual events and capability integration needs

Represent the DEC team on the Digital Marketing Capabilities (DMC) Product Request Board (PRB) to design & prioritize DMC features – close cooperation with the Digital Marketing Operations (DMO) teams will be required to align on market & franchise priorities Collaborate with DMO & IT teams on the development of change management & communications material to help grow digital communities of practices and encourage sharing of best practices Establish and implement the governance model required to maintain a global customer engagement capability standard Working with the broader DMCE team, define and maintain a global content & campaign tagging taxonomy.
