Job Summary (Primary Function)

The Associate Director ERP Tech Ops is responsible for managing a team of internal and external resources located in the US and CH. The incumbent provides an opportunity to combine conceptual thinking with a pragmatic working approach and people management. The role requires an individual who develops and manages relationships with internal/ external business partners and help to provide input for SAP IT investments and roadmap for the Technical Operations organization. The incumbent contributes to the strategic deployment of SAP S/4 in the Sales and Distribution, Materials Management, Warehouse Management, Demand Planning, Production Planning and Execution and Quality Management. The incumbent identifies and promotes continuous improvement opportunities to enable SAP functionality/ capability that will enhance and/or optimize business processes. The incumbent is responsible for managing the SAP Technical Operations support activities; work with the team to assess functional SAP change requests, manage the operational delivery services and work collaboratively with members of IT and Business Teams to plan and deliver SAP solutions. The incumbent follows all relevant SOPs and internal controls to ensure compliancy with security, financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions Of The Job (Key Responsibilities)
  • Manage rollout of large-scale initiatives to successful completion. Identify, communicate, manage, and escalate risks timely and appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with key external and internal stakeholders to understand the challenges, needs and opportunities in order to define and implement an optimal course of action.
  • Consult and influence cross-functional teams, and bring a broad awareness to identify impacts/effects of process or technical decisions.
  • Supervise and iteratively improve system delivery and maintenance execution with minimal oversight.
  • Provide administrative and functional leadership across the IT Organization to ensure reliable and consistent results.
  • Interface with other IT and Business teams as needed to coordinate and support existing operations and new initiatives.
  • Understand & manage organizational dynamics and avoid/diffuse conflicts effectively.
  • Manage support activities related to SAP Technical Operations, including proactive issue identification through ticket resolution, planning and oversight of maintenance windows & activities, and responding to ad hoc requests from Business users or other IT resources.
  • Provide both oversight and logistical support for third-party technology and service providers, including coordinating troubleshooting efforts and upgrades with third-party providers, directly troubleshooting client application issues, and managing vendor relationships as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date on relevant technologies and industry trends in assigned technology landscape.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements, processes and designs into well-documented system designs.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills including the ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Individual must have a thorough understanding of the main business processes within manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and application of testing strategies, methodologies and has been responsible for executing unit, integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Team player with good verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and take direct requests from business and IT colleagues, able to provide end user training as required.
  • Ensure full documentation of existing deployed technologies, system changes to existing technologies, and newly implemented technologies in accordance with policies, good system practices, and any controls/audit requirements.
  • Understand and articulate business demand and its impact on various IT and business programs.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
  • BS degree required in Information Technology or business related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of proven Information Systems experience, with at least ten years of SAP functional experience across multiple Supply Chain disciplines in a life science and regulated environment.
  • Experienced in participating in multi-disciplinary SAP teams and managing a geographically distributed and culturally diverse SAP team is a plus.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of successfully managing cross-functional teams and project delivery excellence.
  • 5 years of People and Project Management experience.
