Summary

Associate Director, Public Affairs, Region Europe is accountable for development, implementation and evaluation of an integrated communication, advocacy and health policy strategy across Region Europe, aligning key interests between the company and its external stakeholders (i.e., patient advocates, caregivers, policy makers and media). The role reports to Director, Public Affairs, Region Europe and works with subject matter experts and multiple functions within the region, as well as its affiliates.

Function Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication and patient advocacy strategies and plans to help meet business objectives and strengthen company/brand reputation by:
    • Collaborating cross-functionally with Incyte teams/internal partners (including corporate communications, medical, market access, commercial, legal, compliance, HEOR, regulatory and PV),
    • Providing guidance to affiliates / countries within Region Europe to ensure meaningful key communications and advocacy activities are implemented in a timely and compliant manner and that activities are prioritized in-line with the region/Companys strategic objectives,
    • Driving key brand, pipeline and corporate communication initiatives, engaging European general, trade and on-line media, as well as external stakeholders (i.e., physicians, patient organisations, caregivers, payors), as appropriate, and
    • Developing and managing the review process for press releases and other external communications materials (e.g., fact sheets, videos, Web and social content, etc.).
  • Exemplify and foster patient-centric culture within the organization by bringing patients perspectives and understanding of the external healthcare environment to internal teams, aligning key interests between the company and patient organisations as well as managing productive and enduring relationships with those groups.
  • Support the development and implementation of advocacy-specific initiatives and activities in Region Europe, including:
    • Development and management of partnership programs that elevate Incytes engagement with patient/advocacy groups around shared interests and advance understanding of patient needs within key therapeutic areas of interest.
      • Develop thorough understanding of the European landscape of patients groups, professional organizations and related groups to understand their capacity and interests in specified areas and identify/leverage opportunities for sustainable collaboration.
    • Contribute to the brand and corporate strategic planning process by sharing insights and providing patient and patient advocacy groups perspectives.
    • Coordinate relevant patient partnership strategies with cross-functional U.S. and Global teams.
    • Represent Incyte at key EU patient advocacy group meetings and events.
    • Stay abreast of internal and external developments, trends and dynamics in healthcare policy, to maintain a current view and perspective of trends and business implications.
    • Strengthen and operationalize guidelines for patient organizations interactions and oversee grant and sponsorship process in Region Europe, including tracking and reporting.
  • Contribute positively to a strong culture of business integrity and ethics by acting within compliance and legal requirements and within company guidelines.

Requirements
  • BA/BS required.Advanced degree in science, health or business-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in patient advocacy/patient relations, public affairs or similar function/experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent Incyte when interacting with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with patient advocacy groups, professional associations, academia and other stakeholders.
  • Confident personal presence and experience managing and hosting live activities/programs.
  • Strategic and results oriented.
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability and skill to work effectively with executive management and other leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated success working in a matrix environment with diverse groups/function, overseeing complex programs and managing external vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize and oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrating strong culture of business integrity and ethics.
  • Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word & PowerPoint, required).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; other EU languages are a strong asset.
  • Highly driven, organized and a collaborative team player.
  • Travel required ~ 30% of the time.
