The EY Global Innovation Team is a start-up-like product and business incubator founded in 2015 to bring technology to the core of everything accomplished at EY. Our scope includes transforming established business with new technology.

The opportunity:

The selected candidate will:

• Demonstrate core knowledge in server-side Javascript, node.js and databases
• Delivers solution or infrastructure development services, such as coding, programming and creating program specifications in a defined project, using sound technical capabilities
• Develops, modifies and maintains solutions or infrastructure, ensuring compliance with the relevant standards
• Works with users to capture requirements and peer reviews design specifications
  
  

Your Key Responsibilities

• Produces high-quality solution or infrastructure deliverables in accordance with project timelines and specifications, using sound coding and programming skills
• Performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the development process contributing to moderately complex aspects of a project
• Maintains and enhances systems by fixing complicated errors, raising risks and escalating issues where necessary
• Works with users to capture detailed requirements, translating designs and solution architecture into design specifications
• Monitors and reports on potential risks/opportunities of emerging technologies, and seeks areas for continuous improvement
• Ensures all activities adhere to the relevant processes, procedures, standards and technical design
• Work closely with Product Management to plan and negotiate iterative development cycles in an Agile environment
• Completion of assigned tasks on time and regular status reporting to the lead
• Keen sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize problems, analyse and resolve issues.
  
  

Skills And Attributes For Success

• Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds
• Strong technical proficiency in designing, developing, and debugging solutions
• Handle ambiguity and able to move forward with imperfect information and get things done in a rapidly changing environment
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are challenged
• Takes pride in producing clean, re-usable code and takes full ownership of the quality of code
• A natural technical pilot that is proficient in explaining Emerging Tech to financial services clients including non-technical stakeholders at all levels
• An ability to engage as part of the sales team to provide pre and post-sales support and implementation
• A capability to direct a delivery team on all aspects of Emerging Tech and to engage with client stakeholders to oversee implementation progress
  
  

To qualify for the role you must have

• Demonstrate core knowledge in server-side Javascript and node.js
• Demonstrate core knowledge in persistence state to databases
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred
• 5 years minimum applied experience
• Relevant experience in either an internal or external software or platform engineering role, or similar
• Sound technical knowledge and experience in delivering software / platform engineering solutions (depending on specialism), providing comprehensive technical advice and managing user requirements
• Relevant knowledge of delivery using modern methodologies especially Agile, Iterative, etc.
