Goal of the Position

The Bioprocess Application Specialist acts both as a trainer, and a consultant, for customers, guiding them through the transfer and industrialization of their current cell culture process into the most adequate Pall’s upstream technologies!

After assessing the customer specific process, business context and needs, this position will, jointly with Pall’s Sales and R&D department, be in charge of performing hands-on training as well as Scientific coaching (experimental plan designs and result analysis) to assist in developing their process successfully.

Most of the projects will be in the field of viral vector production for gene and cell therapy as well as stem cell production and vaccine manufacturing.

This is an exciting and very interesting and rewarding role which includes travel (up to 60%) to regions in Italy, and also around Europe, Egypt and Dubai (usually twice a month).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build experimental plans enabling successful process development and scale up;
  • Support and train customers on Bioreactor Platforms:
  • Lead efforts to discover and address specific customers’ critical problems;
  • Maintain contact and ensure follow up on all customer projects;
  • Be the internal upstream specialist to assist Product Managers and the Engineering team in the development of new products and improvement of current ones;
  • Create and update training documentation;
  • Write literature (application note and posters) in collaboration with Customers and Pall R&D;
  • Support sales team by attending prospection meetings or trade shows;
  • Travel up to 60%, mainly in the EU.
Education, Skills and Competencies:
  • Master’s degree in Applied Biology or Biotechnology Engineer OR a Bachelors degree plus 1-2 years experience;
  • Experience within biotechnology/biopharma
  • Must have a strong knowledge and Hands on experience of molecular Biology - cell culture
  • Knowledge of Aseptic techniques
  • Knowledge of bioreactor processes would be an asset but is NOT essential
  • Aseptic technique
  • Understanding of Quality by Design and Design or Experiments
  • Project management skills, able to prioritize and meet tight deadlines;
  • Fluent in Italian, Proficient in English language (If you have German as well that would be a huge benefit!)
  • Self-starter, able to build networks (both external and internal);
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
