Your role

Are you passionate about operational risk and keen to understand how the IB and particularly the UBS Execution Hub manages it? Would you enjoy working in a dynamic environment and taking ownership for your own task portfolio with stringent deadlines? Are you able to constructively challenge processes and provide innovative solutions to problems?

We are looking for someone like that who can support the IB in its operational risk management activities, specifically to:

  • act as a local point of contact within the global IB BRM team based in Zurich, working closely with the business and our logistics & control partners across a broad spectrum of Operational Risk Management objectives
  • understand and monitor the operational risk portfolio of the UBS Execution Hub and advise and support the business on its sustainable and timely remediation activities
  • perform Key Procedural Controls and oversee, test, and monitor the delivery of the front to back control environment by driving best practice for controls design and operating effectiveness
  • work with IB execution and sales experts encouraging best practice and striving for consistency on a global basis and ensure smooth front-to-back processes in line with applicable policies and guidelines
  • manage the Supervisory Control Portal (SCP) tool for UBS Execution Hub team globally and ensure there is effective governance around the development of the tool and supervision processes
  • provide daily support for SCP processes including queries from and interaction with supervisors, business management, control functions and global internal audit / regulators
  • review the effectiveness of supervision as a control and identifying and implementing changes as required
  • assist with new business initiatives, regulatory investigations, or any sort of ad-hoc requests
  • prepare concise, transparent, and meaningful risk reporting to management, auditors, and regulators
  • take an active role in operational risk change initiatives working closely with stakeholders across the Investment Bank COO and other functions globally
  • provide proactive and constructive challenge in all aspects of the role, encouraging best practice and striving for consistency on a global basis

Your team

You’ll be working in the Business Risk Management team in Zurich. We are part of the IB’s first line of defense primarily supporting the UBS Execution Hub within Global Markets in managing its operational risks. The team is responsible for embedding and maintaining an operational risk framework to manage the IB Front Office risk environment and deliver related operational risk management change projects. The ORF2 provides an integrated approach to managing and operating our business, assists in understanding the cause and effect of operational risks and allows us to consistently assess and manage all areas of risk, identify and prioritize gaps, and provide a basis for evidencing effective and compliant principles and practices. You’ll also collaborate with global colleagues to ensure that best practices are being shared around the region/globe.

Your expertise

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree, preferably in Economics, Law or Business Administration
  • good knowledge of operational risk frameworks, controls, financial instruments and of front to back processes and dependencies in a large execution business
  • excellent analytical and conceptual skills and a structured and results-driven way of working
  • prior experience within an operational risk management / control function within the banking industry
  • strong presentation and organizational skills with an ability to effectively interact with global colleagues at all levels
  • a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and handle challenging deadlines
  • proficiency in MS Excel and Power Point
  • strong communication skills (oral and written) in English with German as an advantage
  • highly motivated, pro-active and very flexible team player
  • able to work under pressure and to manage a diverse and challenging workload effectively
  • comfortable working independently, as well as in a collaborative environment, with sound judgment for when to escalate issues
  • reliable and resilient with a can-do attitude
  • adaptable to changing market situations, technology and business needs (you’re smart and flexible)
