As a Category Development Manager, you will adopt, enrich and implement the central NPPE category strategy in the local Swiss market, implement the local channel strategy with a clear focus on the Specialist channels (Pet superstores) as well E-commerce channel. You will work closely with the local Sales and Marketing teams to deliver superior category growth, a comprehensive channel and distribution strategy, and solid execution of our portfolio and promotional strategy at the PoS.

A day in the life of a Category Development Manager
  • Bridge and align between Marketing/ Brand and Customer/Sales Plans as part of the Integrated Commercial Planning process
  • Track, analyze, recommend & continuous optimization
  • Lead Promo Planning with internal team and customers
  • Build & recommend assortment priorities & product switches, including Innovation&Rrenovation pipeline
  • Help and support key customers shape their category strategy and exploit the full growth potential, by supporting them analytically, building their capabilities and understanding of the category, leveraging the data at hand (be it Nielsen or customer-specific, proprietary data)
  • Analyze shopper trends and needs in the Swiss context, in order to identify appropriate Shopper Activation strategies (based on consumers studies, consumers data and promo analysis)
  • Lead and manage the process of SKU management and customization for the entire Business Unit, helping to shape the portfolio strategy influencing heavily the Sales and Marketing scope of activities
  • Lead & Execute effective Shopper Activation campaigns with customers (annual online activation plan), Multibrand promotions across all customers (strategy, implementation and POST-evaluation)
  • Recommendation of Shelf layout
  • Builds and executes Purina e-business strategy in collaboration with the internal cross-functional team

What Will Make You Successful
  • University degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in Category Management
  • Previous experience in e-Commerce/Digital is a plus
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams
  • Understands key business functions i.e. Commercial, Finance, Marketing
  • Fluent in English, German and French
