If you are based in GSK House for this role you will be required to be at our Nyon site circa 120 days a year.

As the Category OTC Head you will lead the OTC Category for QSC, delivering Innovation and Portfolio Optimisation (PO) for Category Aligned Brands. You will be a credible, trusted business partner and decision maker within the Category Team, representing the interests of QSC, balanced with representation of the category within the QSC organization.

This role has direct accountability for on time delivery of all NPI launches and rollouts within the category through implementation of all activities in setting up the supply chain for new product launch. You will represent CH QSC in key strategic level interface meetings with R&D & the Commercial business such as Portfolio Management Board to determine the Category pipeline & ensure excellence in execution, Technical Review Board to ensure technical robustness and Brand Review meetings

As the Category Head you will also be a key contributor in reducing Supply Chain complexity while driving higher category gross margins through portfolio management initiatives; which are fully aligned with the commercial category business strategy

  • To lead cultural change to embed Design to Value (DtV), Value Engineering and Sustainability improvements within the NPI and cross functional teams to ensure robust effective manufacturing and packaging processes are developed.
  • Work across Category & Technical QSC Team & Technical Leads in Business Units to create and embed synergistic WoW for innovation & portfolio. Support maintenance model synergistic WoW. Drive Speed To Market through continuous improvement opportunities with support from process & system improvement team.
  • Build capability for devices, digital/connectivity, e-comm specific innovation & disruptive innovations.
  • Work in collaboration with Technical Category to deliver new technologies to support innovation. Work in collaboration with QSC Heads to ensure supply chain is set up for success to deliver category strategy & innovation pipeline.
  • Take insights from Global Platform (packaging), sustainability & PMO lead & CH Sustainability team to create Category sustainability roadmap & execute through innovation whenever possible in the most efficient way.
  • Lead and direct the QSC Category team (NPI Leaders & Portfolio Optimisation Managers) to ensure on time and in full delivery of all NPI launches and rollouts adhering to agreed timelines and costs, with the right product quality.
  • QSC decision maker & SPOC through category governance - Portfolio Management Board (PMB)
  • Ensure appropriate cost of goods targets are set within Innovation Briefs to meet or exceed agreed category gross margin hurdles & drive reduction of NPI time to market from the supply chain.
  • Work closely with the sites, CMOs and business development teams to ensure robust supply chains and deal structures.
  • Develop effective cost models for new product introductions and an early stage alignment with VE/DtV project initiatives.
  • Drive platforming during NPI through use of pack and formulations catalogues working closely with procurement, commercial, technical packaging and R&D – ensure category brand portfolios are optimised by design and through rationalisation loop.
  • Represent QSC on TRB to ensure technical robustness and readiness.
  • Drive Design-to-Value and sustainability in all NPI projects.
  • Set strategy for NPI, build capability (eg devices, digital, e-comm) and create processes to support new ways of working or new areas of work (eg optimise Global/BU wow).
  • Undertake major projects of strategic interest for GSK in addition to role as Category Head (as required).

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Degree /equivalent
  • Experience within manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of existing manufacturing processes from raw materials through to finished goods and product testing.
  • Significant experience of product design, process development and product transfers
  • Knowledge of GMP & Regulatory requirements, including experience of post-launch regulatory submissions.
  • Ability to influence people external to GSK who may be involved in setting standards for CH product design and manufacture.
  • Excellent project and process management skills gained within a complex matrix organization and the ability to prioritise and work with multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Knowledge of Financial P&Ls and business case architecture, Logistics and EHS.
  • The ability to do end-to-end manufacturing gap analysis for people, process and equipment capability.
Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • MBA or post graduate supply chain qualification
  • Strong leadership, communication and interface management skills, combined with the ability to influence at senior levels in the organisation to drive growth
  • Understanding of the complexities of a global business ideally with some international experience or having held a role with significant geographical scope.
  • Proven skill in leading experts, technical or production based teams to provide an effective service
  • Ability to deal with complexity and stakeholder management involving Commercial, R&D and Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities suitable for handling the highly complex issues associated with technical and supply problems.
  • Drive to ensure product robustness through a thorough scientific understanding of the product, manufacturing process, analytical methods and control strategy.
  • Ability to challenge existing practices and to introduce new ideas and change ways of working based on sound technical knowledge of NPI activities.
  • External knowledge outside GSK CH would be very useful to bring in new directions and ideas.
