Job Purpose:

Regional Market Manager Gulf (ex UAE) manages private bankers directly, or teams of senior bankers through other senior managers (Team Leaders), that manage relationships with clients from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the Gulf wealth market combined with a solid conceptual / practical grounding in both the function and / or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills is essential in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The Regional Market Manager will also have the role of a Private Banker to build and manage a substantial client book and deliver private banking services to Family Offices and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients within the Gulf region. UHNW is defined as clients with USD 25+ million Net Worth.

The Regional Market Manager will develop medium to long-term plans for the Gulf (ex UAE) market and execute functional strategies to drive our business to become the leading wealth management franchise in this large and complex region.

Responsibilities:

  • High-level responsibilities included full P&L oversight, staffing, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of the Gulf (ex UAE) business.

  • Work as a strategic partner with the CPB Emerging Markets Cluster Head and Global Market Manager of MENA Region to determine the best way to execute the Citi Private Bank strategic plan in the region.

  • Develop proactive sales and marketing strategies for different client segments and countries within the Region, and proactively sales manage the team of bankers covering the market.

  • Accelerate sales revenue performance and New Client Acquisition.

  • Continuously track sales performance of private bankers covering the Gulf market.

  • Give client issues the highest level of priority.

  • Actively assist bankers in assessing client needs and developing appropriate recommendations.

  • Ensure clients are presented with a seamless integration of products and services that best meet their needs.

  • Identify, initiate and drive cross-referral opportunities with Institutional Clients Group and Citi Commercial Bank in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

  • Communicate risks and reduce exposure for the client and the Citi Private Bank, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Build marketplace awareness of Citi Private Bank and communicate the value that Citigroup can bring to clients and the community.

  • Position the Citi Private Bank as the provider of choice for top UHNW Families in the Region

  • Recruit, select and develop staff with well-rounded skills and knowledge to ensure growth and development of the Gulf (ex UAE) franchise.

  • Ensure staff are appropriately trained on Private Banking products and services, and that the Team can effectively communicate the value proposition of Citi Private Bank and Citi more widely.

  • Build social and community involvement by becoming an active participant in local events and becoming a well-known, trusted, and respected professional within the community.

  • Work in partnership with the relevant CCO’s, Local Citi Control Functions and GWM EMEA Management to ensure there is a strong and effective control environment and a strong employee conduct culture. Meet all Citi Policies and Procedure and regulatory expectations and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in the industry

  • Previous experience in managing highly skilled sales teams in Financial Services

  • Extensive knowledge of investment management and private banking products and services

  • Demonstrated sales and client acquisition performance

Education:

Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
