TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).

T&S is a trading company in charge of all physical trading and shipping of crude oil and refined products on behalf of the TotalEnergies Company. It has been an active participant all over the supply chain as well as on the derivatives paper market in order to manage the market risk for a long time.

The mission:

We are looking for our new Compliance Officer to join our team based in Geneva. The Compliance team is dedicated to contribute to the protection of T&S by helping to ensure that its activities are in accordance with the applicable laws and internal rules relating to anti-corruption and antitrust.

What you will do:

Reporting to Branch Compliance Officer (“BCO”), and working to the highest standards of work ethic, your main missions will be to:
  • Implement within T&S the Company’s Integrity policies and programs, including Anti-corruption and Antitrust Compliance programs (hereafter the “Programs”).
  • Communicate and promote the Programs within T&S entities and monitor the effective respect of the same.
  • Perform corruption risk analysis (in collaboration with T&S management if needed) and due diligence on any type of T&S counterparties and provide advice on the performance of these.
  • In coordination with the BCO, participate and ensure internal trainings and communication on Anti-corruption and Antitrust (Annual Compliance Seminars, compliance-awareness training sessions for new traders and managers…), and participate in the promotion of training tools (including e-learnings).
  • Participate to the design, implementation and maintenance of dedicated compliance IT tools.
  • Alert and update the Branch Compliance Officer of any incident of corruption, fraud or antitrust which comes to his/her attention in accordance with the relevant incident treatment procedures.
  • Contribute to ensuring a robust culture of compliance with legal requirements within T&S.
  • Maintain a secure and detailed archiving /document conservation system in accordance with the Company policies and procedures, particularly regarding due diligence.
  • Liaise with other T&S Compliance Officers (based in Houston and Singapore) when necessary and create a strong Compliance Officers network within T&S.
  • Liaise with Compliance teams of other branches when necessary.
  • Attend the Integrity Committee meetings when necessary.
  • Make regular reporting to T&S General Counsel.

Context and environment

The Company implements a zero tolerance principle regarding corruption and strong Anti-Corruption and Antitrust programs in a context of evolution of international applicable laws and higher requirements from civil society and investors on these matters.
Respecting these programs means managing with expertise the Company’s risks related to integrity. Promoting these programs within T&S ensures an effective appropriation by the operational and support functions, including front office, and an effective implementation. This also contributes to guarantee the legal security of the Company, and T&S more specifically, in areas that can affect integrity.

Candidate profile

  • The ideal candidate would have a Master degree in Law with 3 to 5 years of experience in compliance matters such as Anti-corruption and Antitrust Compliance programs, with the ability to understand and synthesize complex legal and regulatory concepts to translate them for business stakeholders.
  • A previous experience in the trading industry would be a considerable advantage to understand the T&S activities, organisation and systems with particular emphasis on compliance rules and control.
  • This position requires excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills, in English and French, with the ability to apply these skills at all levels of the organization as well as strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to adopt a variety of team building and communication approaches to achieve desired results.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to build consensus with diverse stakeholders, and strong problem-solving skills with aptitude to see the next step and follow through on operational detail.
  • Working in our team requires entrepreneurial spirit, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, proactivity, autonomy and the ability to learn new skills quickly in a fast-paced and exciting work environment.
