About The Internship Program

This is an internship opportunity for university students, who are required to complete a mandatory work experience as part of their study curriculum. The organization provides the practical work experience, with defined timeframes and objectives driven by university and curriculum. The experience may include a research project and / Masters thesis.

You will join and work in close collaboration with our audience management and consumer profiling team in Philip Morris International in Lausanne. This team will be acting as the cohesive force that underpins PMI’s consumer-centric and data-driven strategy. You’ll be working together with a mix of talents in data, analytics, science, technology, marketing and media. 

Candidate requirements
  • Currently studying for/finishing your Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related area;
  • Hands-on experience analysing large data sets from various sources/formats (data cleaning, transformation, dealing with unstructured data);
  • Proficiency with Python;
  • Familiar with relational data – SQL;
  • Demonstrated ability to turn data into actionable insights;
  • Fluent in English, and other local languages are an asset.
Roles and objectives
  • Implements maintainable code using git and good practices;
  • Participate in consumer segmentation and profiling projects from end to end;
  • Build machine learning models - from model choice to model implementation in code;
  • Proactively identify available data sources to pull audience insights and work with other functions to develop methods to gain new insights into our consumers;
  • Connect, interpret and present unique patterns in unstructured data from different sources and identify key takeaways and actionable insights.
