Overall purpose of role

The role holder is a member of the Credit Operations Team, which is responsible for all aspects of the post-approval management of credit facilities provided to Barclays’ high net worth and intermediary clients in Switzerland. The role Involves analysing, documenting Lombard & Mortgage lines of credit. The role holder will also be expected to maintain and develop relationships with different stakeholders like the Bankers and various Operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of the credit products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of credit documentation, set-up and maintain credit lines (Mortgages in UK, France and Switzerland, Lombard loans, Derivatives lines, guarantees, other complex Lombard products)
  • Review and approval of all Credit transactions (Loans, Payments)
  • Ensure perfection of collateral prior to provision of credit facilities, liaising as necessary with internal and external legal representatives
  • Participate in system development and testing
  • Manage all credit requests and annual reviews to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
  • Work with Credit Risk and Credit Structuring Teams on the credit pipelines and Credit related Reports
  • To carry out extraction and statistics required as MI information

Key clients (internal and external)

There are a number of key stakeholders which the role holder will have to interact with on a daily basis. These will

include Senior Private Bankers and their executives, Relationship Managers, Business Service Managers, Wealth

Legal, Credit Risk, and Credit Solutions (both in Geneva and globally) as well as other Operational teams, and other

senior management within the Credit Operations teams.

Role requirements

  • A Business, Finance or Legal degree /qualification
  • Credit Risk /Lending Experience, particularly in Mortgage Products
  • Knowledge in Avaloq advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

The candidate must be self-motivated and capable of autonomous working as well as being able to work as part of a team. Key to this is an ability to cross train to be cross-skilled to be able to assist other areas in Credit Operations when volume spikes and absences require.

Professional/technical Experience

Attention to detail and a control mentality are pivotal to the role. The right candidate will have an excellent level of experience of using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience in Credit Operations, Lombard and Mortgage Lending and exposure management is advantageous.

Academic And Professional Qualifications

The right candidate will be educated to degree level or higher.

Language Skills

The right candidate will possess excellent command of the English language with strong written and verbal communication skills and will be able to communicate effectively across all levels.
