Description

Koch Supply & Trading is looking for a Data Scientistto join our Markers team in Geneva, CH. The Markers team at KS&T is a proprietary commodities trading group that works with other analytical and trading groups to find practical applications for machine learning techniques in commodities that contribute to our trading profitability. The Data Scientist will be responsible for leveraging large, complex datasets to gain an objective view of commodities markets. They evaluate and develop trading strategies based on their insights and inform the development of analytical systems that streamline the process of generating ideas.
The successful candidate possesses advanced analytical skills, in addition to their exceptional oral and written communication abilities, high level of intellectual curiosity, humility, and proven ability to work as part of a team. They will learn quickly from the existing understanding and models but also leverage their background and skills to challenge the status quo.
The Data Scientist must be able to work as part of a team of traders and analysts and remain highly motivated, independent, and self-directed.

What You Will Do In Your Role
  • Identify and collect relevant datasets along with Analysts and Traders
  • Manage new and existing datasets
  • Design and upkeep explanatory data models
  • Produce predictive models and maintain forecasts
  • Design and evaluate trading strategies in commodity markets
  • Conceptualize financial drivers of commodity markets and translate them into quantitative trading systems using advanced analytics including machine learning techniques
  • Analyze cross commodity correlations and portfolio dependency/performance in different macro environments
  • Manage the coordination with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure best practices are utilized
The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Fluency in data (scraping, SQL/NoSQL databases, data wrangling, etc.)
  • Expert data visualization skills with Power BI, Python/R, etc.
  • Deep statistical knowledge and understanding of analytical and machine-learning techniques
  • Proven ability to translate real business problems into statistical/machine learning models
  • Expert quantitative programming skills in Python and/or R
  • Proven project management skills
What Will Put You Ahead
  • PhD degree in Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or a quantitative related field
  • Exposure to commodities trading environment
  • Deep understanding of financial time series
  • Experience with quantitative trading strategies and back testing techniques
  • Exposure to sentiment data, satellite data, image processing, social media data
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with source control
