Summary

Louis Dreyfus Company is a world leader in the processing of agricultural products and the merchandising of a diverse range of commodities.We are looking for a Data Scientist for our Grains & Oilseeds platform to support the expansion of the data science capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

Along with the below listed responsibilities, the employee should conduct any other business related to the function as required by her or his supervisor.

As Data Scientist, you will answer independently to business requirements and be involved in the operational side of data science, including data integration, daily run plans, and improve business resilience.

More particularly, you will:

  • Work with traders and research to automate and improve fundamental data pipelines
  • Investigate our internal data sets to help researchers forecast S&D drivers
  • Liaise with IT to ensure our technology stacks remain online
  • Be willing and able to extract features from core and alternative data (e.g. weather forecasts)
  • Collaborate with other data scientists across our other platforms
  • Propose new models, new technologies where appropriate

Experiences

To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for bringing in new technologies to a commercial environment and being comfortable dealing with both IT and trading teams. Strong experience in Python and work well with teams in different locations are key elements to embrace the role.

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

Skills

Technical skills:

  • Advanced IT skills (Excel, VBA, PowerPivot, Power Query…)
  • Programming skills (R, Python…)
  • Strong command on SQL and Data visualization tools
  • Good Business Intelligence awareness
  • Ability to manage big data and summarizing big quantity of data into key/actionable data

Other skills:

  • Know how to communicate/explain complex ideas in a simple way
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to forge relationships with colleagues and external contacts
  • Ability to work within a complex and international environment
  • Self-motivated

Required Languages

  • English (Fluent)

Degree in Computer Sciences, Analytics or Economics
