Minimum qualifications:

  • MSc degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with statistical software such as R or Python, and database languages such as SQL.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis such as multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods.
  • Experience leading improvement initiatives inside and across the organizations.


Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Work experience in a Statistician or Data Scientist role.
  • Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
  • Experience with predictive modeling, causal inference and applied ML techniques.
  • Experience articulating business questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using data.

Quantitative Analysts work all across the organization to help shape Google’s business and technical strategies by processing, analyzing and interpreting huge data sets. Using analytical excellence and statistical methods, you mine through data to identify opportunities for Google and our clients to operate more efficiently, from enhancing advertising efficacy to network infrastructure optimization to studying user behavior. As an analyst, you do more than just crunch the numbers. You work with Engineers, Product Managers, Sales Associates and Marketing teams to adjust Google’s practices according to your findings. We’ve just begun scratching the surface on how Assistant can enrich user experience, with voice and other multimodal experiences on Mobile devices. The team is operating in a startup-like high velocity development mode, and this role has large growth potential, working cross-functionality teams to shape product-market-fit strategy for Assistant on Mobile.

As a Data Scientist, you will evaluate and improve Google’s Assistant product. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems. You will help drive growth trajectory and engagement for the largest Assistant product, having over 1.5B eligible Android devices, and help understand how Assistant adds value to the overall Google ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects at the intersection of Google Assistant, Search and Discover for Mobile users.
  • Drive product excellence and user engagement efforts with data driven insights to make the Assistant more helpful for users.
  • Help establish methodology for understanding headroom, ecosystem impact and user value for Assistant experiences across Google PAs, including Search and Discover.
  • Develop an understanding of data structures and goals, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
  • Build tools to help scale and facilitate the launch evaluation for Assistant products, and prototype analysis pipelines for scalable insights.
