Data Science/Engineer Intern (m/f/d)

As Data Science/Engineer Intern in IT & Digital team at Syngenta you will experience how science and technology come together to help solve humanity’s biggest challenge – feeding the world and taking care of our planet. We offer an exciting opportunity to learn, find practical application of new solutions, and work with a passionate and innovative team.

Timing: March/ April 2022

Duration: 6-8 months

Location: Basel, Switzerland (on-site)

Role Purpose
  • To work on a team with several initiatives combining the data from our digital platforms, environmental data, as well as commercial information about purchasing and customer retention
  • The intern will have an opportunity to get to know IT & Digital leaders, be invited to product demos and will get to know other interns from different countries
  • The role will also get a great sense of achievement and accomplishment, bringing to business leaders’ new sources of information through data, that allow them to make better business decisions, and understand better the power of data in our organization
Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with the IT& Digital team and business stakeholders to understand the analytics usage based on current data
  • Perform detailed analysis of data availability and corresponding ability / limitations to analytics
  • Manage the availability and quality of auxiliary agronomical data needed to develop and use digital solutions
  • Promote a reusable data approach around different data stakeholder within Syngenta Group
  • Achieve greater recommendation through the unobvious combination of different sources of data
  • Predictive analytics
Requirements

Qualifications
  • Hands on experience on R and PYTHON, complex MS excel and other sources of data
  • Knowledge of various statistical techniques and BI and visualization tools (QlikView, Tableau)
  • Experience in Mathematical / Statistical Modelling
  • Good software design, problem solving and debugging skills
  • Data curiosity
  • Design thinking and focus on the business outcome
  • Understanding of agriculture and trial process as well as experience in data analytics and business intelligence will be an additional asset
