Your role

Are you excited in working in a DB centric large application, contributing with your DBA skills to a stable and performing environment? Do you have a strong IT background, an affinity to complex environments and like to work with many different people from different cultures in an agile setup? We’re looking for a new colleague who:

  • is willing to jump in into a complex environment of large and business critical applications in an agile working environment
  • wants to join our international DBA team and take part in large scale upgrade and migration projects
  • likes to support, troubleshoot and tune Databases on many environments collaborating with international teams
  • participating in PoCs to evaluate new technologies and systems (e.g. PostgreSQL) and playing an important role as a project member for future upgrades and migrations.

Your team

You’ll be part of the GEAR DBA and Infrastructure team in Zurich which is responsible for the databases, infrastructure and interfaces of 4 locations and multiple production and test environments hosted on cutting edge technology. We maintain, support and tune 500 DBs from small to very large size on physical systems and VMs across all environments. We’re the first contact for all DB and DB infrastructure related questions for all stakeholders of the solution.
We manage the infrastructure related needs of the accounting application GEAR plus further finance projects which are related to the GEAR application portfolio. We make sure that vendor software is integrated properly into the banks applications landscape. A close collaboration with all involved stakeholders, GEAR developers and analysts but also the release management is key to properly manage all the different tasks for the locations Switzerland, EU, US and APAC.

Your expertise

  • experience with upgrade of large Oracle DBs from 11g (or 18c) to 19c with different migration approaches such as in-place upgrade and approach with copying/move of datafiles
  • strong DBA knowledge of Oracle 11g and 19c, PostgreSQL and the concept of container and pluggable DBs
  • knowledge and hands-on with Grid-Infrastructure
  • strong with hands-on with OEM
  • experience of Migrations from Oracle to PostgreSQL is an advantage
  • Linux RHEL 7 and Scripting skills would be of help
  • troubleshooting skills and performance tuning
  • fluent English and German.
