Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting a Director, Global Supply Chain Innovation and Acceleration (New Consumer Health Company). This position is located in Zug, Switzerland.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.  

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes. 

Job Description

The Planned New Consumer Health Company brings end-to-end opportunities that can impact Consumer Health for decades to come. Supply Chain is a significant and lasting competitive advantage with tremendous challenges and complexities. This key role is focused on the innovation and acceleration of the end-to-end supply chain to ensure and measure: (1) short-term value-added impact on the company via various innovations and acceleration initiatives and (2) long-term sustainable outcomes with leapfrog technologies and processes that will differentiate and ensure competitive advantages. This important role will lead the efforts of the Global Supply Chain Innovation and Acceleration in their specific geography. This role cultivates relationships internally and externally to “connect dots” and make a lasting impact with a bias for action and drive results end-to-end.

Responsibilities
  • Innovation and Acceleration Insights,
  • Scouting of short- and long-term leapfrog and effective technologies and processes
  • Piloting and testing these chosen priority initiatives to accelerate growth and drive long-term sustainable value
  • Participating with leadership in the scaling process in region.

In addition to these responsibilities, the role will be deeply connected to various influential external and internal stakeholders (i.e., Universities and Venture Capital). We are looking for a multi-disciplinary, commercially savvy leader who can continue to define, build, and drive the development of the fast-paced, diverse, and complex Supply Chain Innovation advancements to accelerate the end-to-end business.

Must have prior experience and existing partnerships with a wide range of technology companies, universities and consortiums, industry ecosystem benchmarking, healthcare systems, venture capital firms, start-ups at the advisory level, and other non-competitive corporations is key for success. Deep experience in the overall start-up ecosystem including a detailed understanding of investment vehicles of Venture Capital and start-ups globally will be imperative.

About The Supply Chain Disrupt Program

This role will be part of a team of senior professionals who will execute the global supply chain Disrupt program and will lead transformational value for all global businesses, including their assigned geography, through innovation in both short- and long-term impact. The scope will span across innovation scouting, development acceleration and demonstration, creating collaborative networks, accessing global and regional funding initiatives, and providing technology integration expertise. This team must move fast and drive results.

Focus

Focus is on consumer and customer impact including but not limited to:
  • Demand and Supply generation
  • Innovation of the 3PL and Partnership networks
  • Network Optimization, Logistics (i.e. last mile), and Transportation (visibility)
  • Quality
  • Consumer-facing impact that can drive growth via the Supply Chain in partnership with Commercial leadership
  • Sustainability especially related to packaging innovation and materials
  • Risk sensing within the Supply Chain for strategic advantage

The key to success is to build collaborative partner networks end to end.

Innovation Leadership
  • Prioritize customer & technology innovation opportunities, based on business and customer needs.
  • Lead the acceleration activities within their scope to drive a portfolio of value-driven innovation initiatives to address the prioritized business & customer needs
  • Explore & scout new sources of innovation across technologies, processes, business models, etc.
  • Identify key innovation & technology trends and their implications
  • Implementation of technology horizon scanning and landscaping capabilities, which includes identification of top trends short and long-term.

Strategy and Execution
  • Collaboratively develop and drive forward a coordinated strategy with all stakeholders aimed at addressing future customer and business needs & expectations.
  • Identify the priority technologies & customer-facing innovations that will deliver measurable business benefits and accelerate modern technology readiness and integrated solutions for deployment

Business Development
  • Build strong innovation & technology partner relationships in the region to create a collaborative partner eco-system to maximize access to all innovation capabilities (tech providers, academia, suppliers, etc)
  • Engage in vast forums related to Gartner, Forrester, and select Universities
  • Leverage regional funding and tax incentive models & opportunities globally

Operations Management
  • Coordinate development activities in collaboration with other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Expand relationships with current vendor partners and develop new value-added partnerships

Travel
  • Travel to other domestic and international locations will be required 20% of the time

Qualifications

Required Competencies:
  • Supply Chain experience
  • International business/inter-cultural experience (Must have lived/worked in geography hiring for)
  • Industry experience in Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Consumer Products
  • Experience in various technologies with demonstrable expertise in at least 5 technology areas (Intelligent Automation, Fulfilment, Sensors, Machine Learning, eCommerce, etc.)
  • Record of accomplishment of technology innovation ideally with new to world or Industry 4.0/5.0 Technologies
  • Experience managing technology or innovation centers/hubs, a technology incubator, or a technology lab. Deep university collaborations and start-ups will be an advantage for the leader.
  • Proficient in the English language
