Global Category & Project Buyer

Purpose

  • Lead strategic sourcing scope on customer projects;
  • Act as the interface between sourcing and project / product development, sales, engineering organizations;
  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for the applicable direct material spend categories, as well as the development and management of a performing supply base to reach targeted performances on Quality, Cost and Delivery;
  • Ensure sourcing relevant actions are on time and at cost, and propose corrective actions plans if gaps, respecting group sourcing policies and product development processes.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible to support Customer project by effectively managing the Sourcing and Procurement activities related to the approved capital acquisition within budget and set targets, in line with the required start-up dates and in compliance with local laws and regulations as well as Leclanché‘s safety and internal procurement policies and systems;
  • Define and execute procurement sourcing strategy plan by commodities (with a focus on elements which will be sourced locally, or regionally/globally;
  • Supports design or redesign to cost initiatives on projects and serial production parts working in close collaboration with Engineering;
  • Identify cash/cost target opportunity and achieve the defined top-down target for assigned Direct Material category;
  • Deliver to business stakeholders an execution plan recommendation with timing and sourcing strategies (with a focus on defined commodities);
  • Implement and lead bidding strategies with pricing approaches and fit-for-project contracting models;
  • Manage all Procurement related activities to achieve Project milestones;
  • Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including contracting, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc;
  • Develop sourcing dashboard/KPIs including sourcing activities milestones and cost contribution tracking;
  • Supports the establishment and availability of functional specifications with the stakeholders as base for proper sourcing assessments and TCO evaluations;
  • Provide the risk assessments on all fields related to sourcing (financial, technical, qualification, supply chain);
  • Evaluate cost at TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) levels through business cases and purchasing leverages;
  • Contribute to project material budget cost evaluation with the project;
  • Prevent any deviance on the project (material cost, timeline) and propose alternative solutions;
  • Develop a Supplier Relationship Management with key strategic suppliers through appropriate supplier management measures.

Skills & Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in engineering, business administration or similar. C.P.M., CIPS will be a plus;
  • 5-7 years experience as industrial project purchaser in an international environment;
  • Good knowledge of production techniques and processes;

Languages

  • English fluent spoken and writing;
  • French fluent spoken and writing;
  • German is an asset.
