JOB PURPOSE

The Plant HR Manager ensures professional HR services at the site, developing and executing HR strategy and programmes, aligned with the business needs and consistent with Amcor Values, policy and processes. This function supports the development of a culture of Outperformance and Customer Focus at the plant, acting as an established role model for others by living the Amcor Values.

JOB DIMENSIONS & SCOPE

As a member of the plant management team, the HR Manager acts as a real HR Business Partner and works in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. He/she is strongly involved in the deployment of the overall business strategy as well as HR Strategy and works in collaboration with the other HR Managers of the Business Unit Healthcare.
  • Plant employing about 400 employees in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, including approx. 25 hosted employees with a reporting line into the central organisation
  • The combined turnover is approximately €120M across over 500 customers
  • Operational complexity with over 30 machines on site, 6 manufacturing processes many of them operating on a 24/7 shift pattern.
  • Organisational complexity requires a large range of skills and know-how to deal with manifold and challenging HR situations. The job involves working in a matrix organisation and in mixed project teams with members from different departments across the Plant and Business Unit.
The role exists to support the promotion of Amcor / AFEMEA HR policy and practice, and by nature will be at times operational and at other times tactical and strategic. Key success factor will be a strong trust and working relationship with the Plant General Manager, plus the establishment of credibility within the plant management team and wider Amcor HR network.

Principal Accountabilities

Main Responsibilities
  • As a member of the AF Kreuzlingen plant management team, contribute to setting and delivering the overall Business Strategy and initiatives
  • Manage the Human Resources department including administration, processes and policies and provide professional HR services for AF Kreuzlingen
  • As the leader of the HR department, define priorities and assign tasks to ensure efficient service delivery according to agreed KPIs
  • Attract and develop HR talent to ensure sustainability of the function in the long term
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour law and pro-actively update local employment regulations
  • Lead the annual headcount budgeting process. Define, manage and monitor the size of the workforce in view of capacity demands and by leveraging flexible work models
  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance and support to the plant management team and people managers
  • Facilitate necessary organizational and cultural change to establish an aligned and effective organisation based on mutual trust
  • Drive improvement in employee engagement through clear measurement, problem diagnosis and action planning
  • Attract, retain and motivate the best quality co-workers. Actively manage the recruitment and selection for key positions at AF Kreuzlingen aligned with the recruitment policy and talent acquisition tools and processes of AFEMEA
  • Ensure appropriate and effective local reward and remuneration systems are in place to attract, retain and motivate talent
  • Ensure Management Incentive Plans which comply with AFEMEA rules and templates are in place for all key staff in accordance with Amcor policies
  • Ensure that performance is managed for all employees and that personal objectives are set and measured in a consistent manner in the respective systems
  • Through the Performance Management and Talent Management processes, identify and follow-up on training and development needs
  • Manage relationships with employees and their representatives to ensure change is facilitated smoothly, that disciplinary and /or grievance procedures are properly followed if necessary
  • Manage employee communications in accordance with the requirements of AFEMEA communications policies and strategy
  • Implement Amcor/AFEMEA HR policies at the plant level, adapted to meet local jurisdictional requirements where necessary
  • Support and prepare executive decision-making through monitoring and reporting relevant HR KPIs
  • Contribute to cross-functional and/or BU/BG-level projects
Qualifications/Requirements


  • Formal Qualifications And Experience
  • University degree in human resources or business administration and/or profound further education with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in generalist HR Management
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment of an international company, preferably in a customer focussed business committed to “best in class” safety management and productivity / quality improvement.
  • Track record of driving employee engagement and a passion for talent development
  • Experience in dealing with employee representatives and trade unions
  • Experience with HR Management systems (especially SuccessFactors, Abacus) is a plus
  • Background knowledge in the area of compensation and benefits – remuneration, job evaluation, incentive plans
  • Good knowledge of Swiss employment law / employee relations / remuneration practice
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Strong individual contributor and promoter of high performing teams, hands-on and able to manage multiple tasks at the same time, results-driven and action-oriented
  • Adept with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Fluent in English and German
