For our client,a startup in biotechnology, we are looking for a:

Senior systems engineer

Location:Canton of Zurich

Contract: Permanent

In this role, you take the technical lead in conceiving, developing, and realizing products from the idea to series production in a growing team of highly qualified and innovative engineers and scientists. Our devices are of high technical complexity, including mechanics, optics, electronics, fluidics, software, and biochemistry components. Our development processes are lean and focus on delivering products to the market fast, and according to the real needs of our customers. Your role is critical in keeping us aligned with one of our core values: to be courageously innovative! Your field of activity includes the development of laboratory devices for the life science industry.

Your Responsibilities
  • Technical development lead for novel laboratory biosensor equipment and consumables
  • Planning, coordinating, and conducting research and development projects
  • Establishing requirements and defining specifications
  • Defining functions, submodules, and interfaces
  • Defining test and validation criteria
  • Identifying and managing risks
  • Drafting and assessing concepts
  • Reviewing and challenging designs
  • Realizing feasibility studies, prototypes, and series products in the team
  • Leading the transfer of products from R&D to manufacturing and support functions
  • Collaborating closely with other functions such as product management, supply chain, marketing, sales
  • Documenting results in line with company policies
  • Ensure that developed products are compliant with relevant regulations.
Your Profile
  • Master’s degree in engineering or natural sciences
  • At least 5 years work experience in the development of complex mechatronic devices
  • Experience in fluidics is a big advantage
  • Experience in 3D construction (SolidWorks) is an advantage
  • Proven track record of finding innovative solutions to tough engineering challenges
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid experience in conceptual design
  • Solid understanding of international product standards and guidelines
  • Excellent communication and team motivation skills and a winning personality
  • Experience in electronics or optics is an advantage
  • Experience in lean/ agile development is an advantage
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent PC application skills
  • Reliable, independent, and precise mindset with a high-quality awareness
