Job Description

MAKE Automation, Sciences & Technology (MAKE AS&T) is the Global MAKE functional pillar of the J&J Consumer Health Global Value Chain (GVC) Organization. It is the technical and operational excellence backbone of the Consumer Health Supply Chain providing Technical Ownership and Executional Excellence, maximizing the synergy of product, process, and equipment.

The Digital Process Design lead is part of the Product Strategy & Advanced Process Control team and is Consumer Health Subject Matter Expert (SME) in identifying, designing, and deploying predictive models that deliver supply chain value in optimizing product performance.

This role will engage with global and cross-functional partners from R&D, MS&T, Quality and Supply Chain to bring forward opportunities starting at technology transfer and continuing through lifecycle management. He/she will collaborate with business partners to identify, test, optimize and implement industry solutions grounded in mathematical, graphical and/or statistical methodologies to improve risk management and decision making in product performance (eg cycle time reduction, Flow optimization, Real Time Release opportunities).

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate continued growth in mathematics, statistics and/or computational/quantitative sciences and the ability to stay current with industry trends through involvement with external/professional organizations. The organization will benefit from risk management that increasingly applies data-based decision-making and influences positive project outcomes
  • influence business partners to embrace and deploy Informed Decision-Making methodologies and systems (e.g. Bayesian, Frequentist)
  • construct and deliver sound scientific concepts, evidence, assessments of risk and impact, and logical arguments to management, regulatory agencies, and cross-functional partners
  • contribute to creative/alternative analysis strategies for real-world applications
  • collaborate and coordinate with non-statisticians, translating sophisticated statistical concepts to product design and production partners and positively influencing decisions
  • identify, develop, and deliver broad and individual training to business partners in the concepts of Informed Decision-Making and the requisite methodologies
  • serve as the back-up to the Commercial Support Statistician in areas of mathematical, statistical, and/or graphical analysis

Qualifications

Required Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) is required in Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics
  • Experience in predictive modeling and applications
  • 6+ years of experience with evidence of progressive increase in responsibility in manufacturing or packaging
  • Experience in predictive modeling and applications
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics

Preferred Competencies
  • Highly effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in multivariate analysis
  • Knowledge of Bayesian and Frequentist methods
  • Proficiency in Python, R or SAS
  • Experience in Manufacturing Controls
  • Ability to collaborate across the Regions and at a Global level
  • Ability to collaborate in global teams through issue resolution
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement projects
  • Excellent oral and written, and presentation communication skills
  • The ability to lead simultaneous complex issues
  • Process excellence experience such as Six Sigma, Lean, or structured problem solving
  • Experience working directly with predictive modeling associated with manufacturing or packaging
