Position Summary

As Business Operations Lead for the European Medical Affairs Organisation, you are accountable for the coordination of the regional planning, operations, and tools and ensure alignment across the European Team as well as all the Global Franchise Teams (GFTs). You demonstrate entrepreneurial and business focus thinking, with the ability to formulate strategies and concepts in creative and innovative ways. You lead effectively across a matrix organisation, with the ability to decide and initiate action. You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You work in line with and are willing to adopt the Ultragenyx mission and values. In this role, you report into the Head of Medical Affairs, Europe.

What you will be doing

    • Drive alignment with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, In-country staff, liaising with other functional leaders and members of European Management Team, as needed
    • Support key strategic projects and business cases, with high relevance for EU Team
    • Manage EU Medical Affairs Business Operations activities (from pre-launch to post-launch) to ensure efficiency, simplicity and operational excellence across the entire EU team and for dedicated GFTs
    • Coordinate and support annual Strategic Medical Planning, Brand Planning, and (pre)launch Planning Process for Europe, regionally across brands as well as across functions and countries
    • Support and coordinate the (non)promotional material review process as well as the implementation and use of CRM systems for Region EU in line with Regional and Global policies
    • Create and coordinate launch excellence process across Europe
    • Support EU Medical Affairs Leadership Team in goal setting and tracking, meeting and performance management, conference, training & development needs planning and execution
    • In addition, you will drive and lead selected strategic projects

What you bring to the role

    • MBA or equivalent
    • Strong pharma/biotech background (5-7 years) in Rare Diseases in an international/regional matrix environment required
    • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a (Medical) Project Management role with a track record of launching new products
    • Professional experiences in working with material review and CRM systems across EU countries
    • Track record of project management skills and expertise across medium/large scale projects
    • Experience in working with diverse, cross-functional, and cross-regional teams and individuals
    • Solid communication, organization, interpersonal, and presentation skills coupled with experience interacting with executives in a multi-matrix environment
    • Strong motivation and ability to learn and absorb new knowledge
    • Professional fluency in English is required (spoken and written). Additional language skills will be an asset
    • Excellent knowledge of collaboration and productivity tools, ie Office365, EDMS, virtual collaboration tools are expected
