Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.      

 It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.     

Position Description

The Director, Global Business Operations is accountable for delivering standardized and consistent Engineering & Property services while driving deep alignment with the Global Workstreams, Regional Leads, Sub-Regional Leads, and suppliers.

This role is responsible for carrying out activities pertaining to continuous improvement, P2P, performance management and governance, and planning and budgeting.

A suitable candidate for this role will have demonstrated experience in operations, engineering, and business process development, particularly passionate about the areas of performance management and governance, along with executing strategy within a robust, mission driven, and largely outsourced organization.

Key relationships include communication and coordination with E&PS regional and sub-regional leads as appropriate, to ensure successful implementation and management of the E&PS program across regions while managing nuances of unique sub-regions. This role also involves coordination with business customers, particularly the Supply Chain organizations and enabling functional partners (GHS, EHS, Procurement, Global Security, etc).

Key Responsibilities
  • Acts as a single point of contact (SPOC) across the global portfolio for activities such as capital planning, budget roll-up, etc.
  • Liaise with Global Workstreams, regional organization, and Sector Business Operations counterparts to devise and deploy processes to ensure E&PS strategies are deployed consistently in the regions
  • Execute Performance Management governance and reporting requirements at the global level and below
  • Coordinate and support the execution of Global and Regional performance reviews
  • Use metrics and benchmarks (both internal and external) to identify standard methodologies, cost reduction and process improvement
  • Partner with Global Workstreams, and Regional Leads to foster culture of continuous improvement driven by metrics, benchmarking, and standard methodologies
  • Partner with Finance, support the regions, and collaborate with Global Workstreams, to track budget vs. performance and to adhere to consistent cost allocation methodologies
  • Establish and enforce methodologies to generate savings and optimize the business while deepening the regional focus
  • Link to broader E&PS organization and manage relationships with business partners in Finance, IT, Engineering, PMO, and Procurement
  • Establish relationship with Make organizations and commercial leadership to draw connections between E&PS strategy and business strategy; funnel recommendations to Global Workstreams, to develop global strategy development
  • Assess the degree of change required to successfully execute strategy and incorporate relevant change management techniques into the implementation plan to drive the change effectively and ensure successful execution
  • Participates in Long Range Financial Planning (LRFP) process
  • Support the creation and validation of business cases in the regions
  • Accountable for the definition of the functional competencies, overall learning and development strategy and plan for Business Operations

Qualifications

Required Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (operations, engineering, computer science, facilities management, construction management, business, etc) required
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Knowledgeable of E&PS, possess operations experience, exhibit a demonstrated affinity for team collaboration and executive reporting
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proven ability to manage effective teams in highly dynamic environments
  • Ability to balance many points of view while still advancing standardization
  • Able to ruthlessly prioritize work but handle multiple work streams
  • Strong background in project management, analytics and metrics development
  • Good verbal, written and customer service-focused communication skills; can simplify complex topics and computations for executive decision makers
  • Excellent attention to detail

Preferred Competencies
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Effectiveness and comfort with communicating data in a clear, succinct, and understandable way to an audience
