Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • The Director Global Market Research, Vaccine Business Unit, reports to the Head of Commercial Operations & Analytics, Vaccine Business Unit and directs and oversees the global Market Research policies, objectives and initiatives
  • The incumbent develops market research and competitive intelligence strategies for VBU candidate vaccines to inform and support strategic business decisions
  • Serve as the “voice of the customer” to the Global Launch Team (GLT) and translate customer & market insights into actionable recommendations based on key insights
  • Facilitate and lead discussions with cross-functional teams regarding implications and relevant recommendations based on those insights generated from primary MR, CI and other analyses

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide significant input into commercial strategy development for VBU vaccines and ensuring systematic hypotheses - and assumptions testing
  • Orchestrate internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure high quality study design, adequate methodology and timely delivery of research findings to support the brands
  • Own market research for the VBU including vendor selection, fieldwork logistics planning and management, analysis of findings, creation and presentation of final reports
  • Establish and oversee annual market research budget
  • Drive and impart operational excellence in project management, qualitative and quantitative techniques and new market research approaches to answer business objectives
  • Drive VBUs competitive intelligence strategy to support business decisions
  • Establish and maintains departmental policies and procedures by working with representatives from other departments (i.e. legal, finance, pharmacovigilance, compliance, etc) and align with market research functions in other business units.
  • Support LOCs and Regions with an expertise in market research and competitive intelligence, including coaching and sharing Global sources and techniques.
  • Drive outsourcing initiatives to ensure highest quality of service and identify opportunities to enhance vendor deliverables
  • Anticipate trends affecting market potential and provide regular updates on marketplace performance
  • Develop and maintains deep expertise in past, current and anticipated therapeutic area issues, industry trends, competitor products, and future pipeline products. Able to use market knowledge to guide brand team strategy
  • Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum BA or BS in business, marketing, and social sciences, Advanced degree is a plus
  • 10+ years primary market research related experience.
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical industry research experience
  • Well-founded understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, application and working knowledge of marketing analytics, sales analytics, decision science and quantitative market research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Proven ability to effectively operate and influence cross-functionally and in a matrix environment as well as lead projects
  • Ability to manage internal and external resources (people, information, technologies, time, and capital); allocates resources appropriately, given organization, group and individual goals and objectives to align with business goals
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Proficient English
  • Any other language of advantage

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to drive to or fly to various meeting sites, including overnight trips, up to 20%. Some international travels will be required
