We are looking for a US GAAP expert with excellent knowledge on financial instruments. Can you connect our teams and be the financial guide to new products and services?

Purpose of the role

In this role you will be advising business leaders on complex accounting issues under US GAAP with a focus on the financial services arena. This will include but is not limited to accounting for transfers and servicing of financial assets, legal right of offset, financial derivatives and other key provisions of US GAAP associated with financial engineering for highly tailored and structured financial instruments. This role provides technical accounting and other controlling support to the operations of Bunge Finance Solutions (BFS) and Trade Finance Solutions (TFS).

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Understand and evaluate the accounting treatment of highly complex structured finance products
  • Work closely with the commercial and trading teams to provide timely structuring advice and accounting support to meet commercial timelines
  • Enhance relationships across functions (controlling, commercial, risk, compliance, treasury, and legal)
  • Serve as an expert US GAAP resource, including the preparation and/or review of technical accounting memos.
  • Advise the commercial and legal teams on transaction structuring to achieve desired accounting outcomes.
  • Represent the Controlling organization on the Risk Management Working Group – a group established to review and approve trade finance transactions
  • Coordinate with controlling teams in the performance of internal controls, general ledger accounting, disclosure and reporting
  • Coordinate with BGAP to establish the organization’s accounting policies with regard to trade finance.
  • Assist in the review of the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings, with an emphasis on review of BFS and TSF activity and disclosures.

Skills, Knowledge And Competencies

Technical U.S. GAAP knowledge is required with experience in accounting for transfers and servicing of financial assets, legal right of offset, financial derivatives and other key provisions of US GAAP associated with financial engineering for highly tailored and structured financial instruments. It’s a must that you bring previous experience in the financial services industry, or having served as an auditor or advisor of a financial services company. Agribusiness industry experience is a plus.

This role requires significant use of judgment to evaluate the accounting treatment of complex transactions, including structured finance transactions. It will require the ability to communicate well with all levels of management and development of working relationships with key personnel across functions and external to the organization.

We are seeking a highly motivated person with the ability to work independently as the role will require significant coordination with managers in other geographies.

Education And Experience
  • Accounting BS degree required
  • 7 -10 years public accounting or 10+ years public/private accounting mix
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry and accounting for transfers and servicing of financial assets
  • Previous experience in an accounting policy role is a plus

Other Requirements

Certified Public Accountant, required (US CPA) or equivalent – required
