About The RoleTogether with a high-calibre and motivated international team, you will actively contribute to the formulation of our global economic (GDP, inflation, etc) and interest rate forecasts for the Group and support our client and public policy outreach. The role is an excellent stepping stone within the company with frequent exposure to senior management and other teams. You should expect a dynamic environment and be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and autonomy in your daily work.Key Tasks And Responsibilities Include
  • Support development of views, analysis and outlook on key macroeconomic variables for the most important global economies (e.g. GDP growth, inflation, interest rates, central banks). Closely monitor and assess also broader economic, political, and financial market developments
  • Design and improve quantitative models to further strengthen macroeconomic and interest rate analysis/forecasts
  • Support Swiss Re’s thought-leadership topics and client outreach by preparing high-quality presentations and supporting work on publications
  • Support Group Chief Economist and Head Macro Strategy in various tasks (e.g. writing background notes, designing slides, some administrative tasks, etc)
About The TeamGroup Economic Research and Strategy (GERS) is part of the Swiss Re Institute, and is responsible for analysing and forecasting the global macroeconomic and insurance market environment. GERS holds a crucial role in steering Swiss Re’s capital allocation for both sides of the balance sheet. The team also drives thought leadership on topics of strategic importance and is responsible for Swiss Re’s flagship Sigma publication series.The team is located across geographies, is highly visible and interacts with a wide variety of key partners and decision makers across Swiss Re and externally.Swiss Re embraces diversity and equal opportunity.   • Completed university degree in Economics, Finance or Data Science, ideally at Master level. A degree from another field is also possible, though excellent working knowledge of Economics/Finance is expected
  • Ability to break down, communicate and visualize often complex concepts in an easy and digestible way. Both written and verbal communication skills are excellent in English; other languages like German a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required
  • Econometric and programming skills in one of the major statistical softwares/programming languages (R, Stata, Matlab, Python) is a distinct advantage
  • Highly motivated with a can-do attitude; dedication to continuous learning and willingness to challenge and improve the status quo
  • Very agile, open-minded and curious personality with ability to work under tight timelines
  • Mature and proactive; showing a high degree of own initiative
  • Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
