Contract/Perm: Contract (4-Months)

A Fantastic new role has just opened up at one of our leading Swiss based clients offering the successful candidate the opportunity to join a hard-working team working on exciting projects in the pharmaceutical sector.

Responsibilities
  • Under the responsibility of the site EHS Associate Director, the EHS Specialist Environment drives compliance with all environmental aspects (permits, programs, reports, etc.). The position is also a critical component in anticipating and reviewing new internal and external regulatory requirements for applicability and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain the site Environmental Management System
  • Prepare and review submittal of monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports associated with wastewater, groundwater, hazwaste and air compliance.
  • Respond to site emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team(s) (i.e. Fire, HazMat, First Aid).
  • Conduct appropriate EHS training as necessary to ensure understanding of requirements and regulatory submittal timeframes as needed.
  • Reinforce environmental liaison with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Manufacturing Science and Technology, and the Corporate EHS group to review projects for regulatory impact and permit compliance. Actively manage, lead and direct site teams to attain project goals.
  • Periodically audit Boudry facility for compliance with applicable government regulations and company requirements to identify and improve management programs for compliance.
  • Drive site efforts to achieve the clients Sustainability goals.
  • Ensure compliance with the clients EHS Management System, mainly by participating in the clients standards gap assessment
  • Ensure site inspection readiness concerning Legal Authorities or Corporate Group.
  • Perform department EHS audits, define follow up actions and monitor the program.
  • Maintain expertise on current EHS issues through ongoing literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.
  • Support the EHS Associate Director for all site EHS activities and programs where needed.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of Swiss legal requirements and local Ordinances (OPAM, OMoD, …)
  • Experience in Emergency Response, waste, and wastewater management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly effective written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Autonomous, with ability to work independently
  • High comfort level in using MS Office suite, SharePoint
  • Must have high analytical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to develop EHS relations and best practices within / outside the company
  • Fluent in French and English
  • High School diploma or technical background in Environmental Management or equivalent experience and education
  • Minimum of five 5 years’ experience in Environmental management with relevant industry experience
  • Successful experience with Swiss Authorities interaction, Project Management and Change Management
  • Ideally successful experience in ISO 14001 certification
  • Fluency in French and English
