DePuy Synthes is recruiting for an Electromechanical Engineer - Supply Chain, to support Trauma, Extremities, CMF & Animal Health (TECA) franchise unit at the West Chester, PA & Zuchwil, CH facilities.

You will be part of the DePuy Synthes Supply Chain Product Management (SCPM) group. The successful candidate will be working within a cross-functional project team through all phases of the product development process, planning and executing projects through the product launch. The candidate will work closely with members of the project core team (R&D, Quality Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Sourcing, Plan, Make, External Operations etc.,) to evaluate design concepts for manufacturability (such as DOE’s, system integration, etc.), and support development of product and process validation. The Engineer will use engineering knowledge of manufacturing operations to function as an integral member of a NPI team developing, designing, validating & starting up world-class manufacturing & assembly operations that ensure product quality, cost & performance.

Overall Responsibilities

The candidate should demonstrate an understanding in the application of design controls and development processes. The candidate should have the ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied workload, exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills and interface effectively with others in the project team. The individual will also be expected to develop an expert knowledge of our product lines and detailed knowledge of various TECA products.

The Electromechanical Engineer Will Be Responsible For
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering development as part of new product introduction.
  • Responsible for supporting Systems Engineering activities across complex electro-mechanical programs, with a concentration on electrical and software systems integration.
  • Apply statistical techniques, develop validation protocols, qualify first articles, complete process capability studies & process validation on both internal & supplier processes.
  • Identify New, Unique & Difficult product features & lead DFM/A activities during Charter & Design phase.
  • Select & work together with suppliers & designers to finalize product design, material selection & final process selection.
  • Review & approve specifications for process & equipment including drawings, process specifications etc.
  • Conducting and/or participating in technical design reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, etc. is required.
  • The candidate should be able mentor entry level engineers and will oversee manufacturing engineering and/or suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and assemblies.

Qualifications

Education & Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or a related science/engineering degree with at least 6 years of experience or a Master’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or a related science/engineering degree with at least 4 years of experience is required

Preferred Skills & Experiences
  • Experience with regulations and standards (IEC & ISO)
  • Technical expertise around a multitude of enabling surgical technologies is (e.g., Electronics, embedded Systems, Software Development, Sensors, etc.).
  • Experience with component process development
  • Experience leading outside vendors and suppliers
  • Experience solving technical manufacturing issues
  • Medical device experience
  • Candidate with DOE/6 Sigma experience
  • Knowledge in the application of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), including industry best practices and experience in applying DFM to new product designs
  • Experience in Manufacturing Cost analysis.

Other
  • This position is based in either West Chester, PA or Zuchwil, CH and may require up to 10% (Domestic/international) travel.
