Position Summary

The EMEA Marketing Manager will drive the regional translation of the business strategy into actionable sales and marketing growth plans. With his/her deep insight of the plastics industry, customers, markets and segments this role will be critical to convert insights to action and play a role model within the business organization for profitable growth. Within a change environment of becoming more customer centric and focused, this role will be critical for influencing business decisions and become a trusted partner and key stakeholder of the regional business team.

The Regional Marketing Manager is mastering strategic marketing tools and methodologies e.g. segmentation/targeting/value proposition development and has a proven track record of successful implementations of growth strategies and projects. This critical marketing generalist understands data and can provide insights, uses analytics to support decision making and planning. A deep value-based management mindset will be needed to implement and execute value-based pricing strategies and concepts. Finally his/her creative and communicative skills will help him/her to develop and launch industry leading marketing collaterals and marketing tools (incl. Digital and CRM).

Job Responsibilities

Regional Marketing Strategy Development & Execution
  • Acts as thought partner to Regional Leadership; provides regional perspectives and contributions to the translation of global segment strategies into regional execution. Develops regional marketing strategy to maximize profit, variable margin, sales revenue and market share. Provides in depth strategic marketing knowledge to the business growth plan including market trends, segmentation/targeting/positioning and includes competitive analysis, value-based selling and new market development activities.
  • Stays abreast of customer requirements and trends to proactively identify new business opportunities and drive growth in the region. Ensures sales prospecting activities are in alignment with overall strategic priorities as identified by global marketing.
  • Compiles and analyzes market position information separated by market share segments, competition, functional substitutes and industry trends.
  • Defines strategic pricing guidelines and understands market price sensitivity and value drivers to maximize business profitability and optimize future growth.
Product and Market Development
  • Work with regions to translate business plan / marketing strategy to key developments at region level.
  • Evaluates and drives new product development (e.g. regional pipeline and stage gate) against market opportunities/challenges and compatibility with Cabot’s strengths and business strategy. Together with Business Development and/or Regional Product
  • Development aligns on product launch criteria / target / pricing for the region and setting up successful product positioning and value proposition.
  • Lead new commercial continuous improvement initiatives in the region (e.g. value-based pricing, Commercial and Marketing Excellence (Find /Win) to support market development initiatives) and drive outcomes into business results.
  • Leverage opportunities, products and knowledge of workstreams across regions
Regional marketing plan
  • Communicate marketing and segment strategies to Sales, Tech Services, and Manufacturing; training of sales and distribution in marketing execution and tools
  • Execute new product launches
  • Capture market intelligence and develop insights, share globally and regionally
  • Support distribution channel, providing distributors with marketing tools
  • Generate leads for targeted products and following conversion into sale
  • Identifies regional marketing communications opportunities and coordinates with global Marketing Communications group; Supports regional events (trade shows, distribution events, etc.) as needed.

Requirements
  • Technical Applications Knowledge. Knowledgeable about Cabot’s technical capabilities and applications and how they complement performance of customer.
  • Analytical Ability & Intelligence. Ability to identify and analyze what is important and recognize depth of analysis needed. Ability to interpret and synthesize issues in order to draw conclusions.
  • Business Savvy. Knowledgeable about functional elements, which are important for business profitability. Able to ‘talk business’ at high levels.
  • Commercial Skills. Has deep knowledge about the markets and applications in which our products add value and demonstrates ability to effectively capture value.
  • Communications & Presentation Skills. Ability to engage with the organization in a manner that is timely, relevant and appropriate to the environment.
  • New Business Mindset. Ability to use knowledge of Cabot’s capabilities to seek out and identify opportunities where Cabot can provide solutions to customers’ needs.
  • Organization Integration & Engagement. Ability to work in close alignment with people from other functions and influence/engage others to address issues, resolve conflicts and influence without authority. Be a change agent towards a customer focused organization (mindset).
  • Project Ownership & Management. Ability to take ownership for ensuring desired outcome of project and establish and monitor milestones towards objectives.
  • Strategic Mindset Ability to determine what needs to be done to move business forward and stay on track towards realization of vision.
  • Bachelor/University degree in Business, Engineering or Marketing. Knowledge of Marketing theories and practices. Master’s/Graduate/MBA degree a plus;
  • 8+ years’ experience in industry preferably within both commercial and marketing functions.
