Your role

Are you a qualified Lawyer with international experience in data protection and bank or professional secrecy laws, particularly but not solely in core [EMEA/ APAC/ Americas] jurisdictions and with a passion for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and distributed ledger technology? We are looking for someone like that to:

  • advise the CISO and support legal aspects of cybersecurity to protect the Bank, working closely with other legal , compliance teams and the DPO - including on incident management and response
  • support the Bank in analyzing and advising on emerging technologies (Cloud, Quantum Computing etc). Specifically, this includes the following:
  • providing thought leadership, working with different Legal or Compliance colleagues to understand and analyze the impact of such emerging technologies on existing UBS business processes;
  • where needed, advising on and drafting required updates to internal policies and processes.
  • contributing to lobbying and policy-shaping efforts through industry groups and regulators in relation to such emerging technologies
  • guiding and advising relevant functions, including Legal colleagues, in complying with new laws and regulations governing such emerging technologies
  • partner with the Chief Digital and Information Officer organization to advise and guide them through operational and business needs.

Your team

You will work in the newly created Digital Information and Data Legal team within UBS. This team will provide coverage of emerging legal issues and support UBS’ strategic imperative to use technology as a differentiator. The team will also act as a knowledge hub to assist colleagues manage the increasing demand for legal advice on digital, information and data topics firm wide. You will be at the forefront of advising on these topics with opportunities to be involved in exciting projects on emerging technologies as they develop. The role is [EMEA/APAC/Americas] focused but as part of a global team you should expect to participate in knowledge sharing and standard setting throughout UBS.

Your expertise

  • a qualified lawyer with in depth experience in all cyber related legal areas, including financial market regulation and data protection with a desire to learn new skills and technologies and to think outside your core area;
  • patient and meticulous with good analytical and project management skills;
  • able to assess and advise on complex risk as part of providing solution driven advice.
  • demonstrated experience in relation to in-house positions (ideally within the financial services sector) or reputable private practice firms
  • strong commercial acumen and ability to provide strategic value add
  • excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • ability to work independently and under compressed timeframe
