Your ‘day to day’

As an Engineer, Biobank Operation, you will be responsible for PMI’s Biobank in maintaining a global biological sample inventory for Life Sciences - an inventory of biological samples from internal and external in-vitro, in-vivo, and clinical studies. You will drive the specification and application of PMI’s standard methodologies in biological sample management and ensure compliance to these across different PMI labs, sites, and external partners.

More specifically, you’ll
  • Ensure and maintain full compliance of biological sample management in the Life Sciences function to PMI’s Quality Management System, Good Clinical Practices by ICH, regulatory and ethical requirements so that all clinical and pre-clinical submissions to regulatory can be accepted and considered.
  • Maintain a full biological sample inventory for PMI Life Sciences in PMI’s Biobank to support business objectives in Life Sciences relation to biological samples.
  • Ensure and support compliant data and material archiving for metadata related to biological samples, including attestation for biological sample disposals for study closures.
  • Lead the improvement of biological sample related processes and systems towards a more digitalized and scalable implementation for higher operational efficiency and compliance to more stringent regulatory requirements.
The incumbent must perform their duties in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) according to the RS 813.112.1 Ordonnance sur les bonnes pratiques de laboratoire (OBPL) du 18 mai 2005 (Etat le 12 juillet 2005) and the respective PMI procedures.

Who we’re looking for
  • Masters or higher in the Management of Biobanks (or equivalent)
  • Proven working experience in handling biospecimen and their data in a clinical or industrial setup experience in computerized system validation
  • Profound knowledge in regulatory standards such as GLP, GCP and various ISO standards – including sound knowledge in ISO 20387
  • Practical experience in an agile, project-driven, fast paced team environment, preferably in an international setting
  • Experience in regulated environments with training, document, raw data, and material management systems
  • Knowledge in using commercial BIMS, such as LabVantage solution technical knowledge in Biopreservation and Cryoscience
  • English proficiency required; French written/spoken an advantage
  • Comfortable with MS office suite including powerpoint and excel
  • Ability to put internal clients/customers at the core of your work
