The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Engineer as an Expert inEnvironment (*)you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around EMEA and the world. Here, you will make an impact by being primarily responsible for interacting with regional EHS managers and regional / site environmental subject matter experts to support facilities.

In addition, you will be responsible to:

• Provide leadership and strategic direction toward environment stewardship, compliance and subject matter expertise in EMEA.

• Serve as an environmental subject matter expert in the areas of air quality, water quality, and/or waste management and related treatment and control systems.

• Lead and/or participate on corporate environment audits.

• Develop standard work for environmental programs and tools, including validation with regional EHS teams to ensure improvements are efficient and effective.

• Collaborate across corporate EHS, area / regional EHS teams, manufacturing, engineering, R&D, legal affairs, and external stakeholders to drive EHS performance excellence, recognize and develop EHS best practices and implement novel environmental technologies.

• Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, attention to detail, and standard work to realize a working environment of open communications, project management and prioritization, and a full entitlement mindset toward compliance and risk reduction.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

• Minimum eight to ten (8 - 10) years of environmental experience in a private, public, government or military environment

• Three to five (3 - 5) years combined supervisory and/or management experience

• Fluent in English

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.

• Expert/master knowledge and experience in one or more environmental professional disciplines (e.g. air quality, water quality, waste management and related environmental controls).

• Experience with regional (EU, EMEA country, etc.), and/or state environmental regulations, permits, and regulatory compliance strategies for manufacturing facilities.

• Previous experience in process engineering, design engineering or manufacturing.

• Strategic thinker, high attention to detail, process-oriented, ability to develop and maintain good working relations with clients, ability to communicate (multi-lingual a plus) broadly, clear/concise writing ability and data documentation style, self-starter with the ability to multi-task.

• Certification(s) such as: Professional Engineer, Qualified Environmental Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or related EHS credential.

• Experience with deployment of global systems.

• Project management experience, especially involving multiple diverse constituents.
