Engineering Manager



Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Engineering Manager is core to the success of our Operation. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that multiple key projects and multidisciplinary engineering duties are fulfilled effectively and efficiently. As Engineering Manager you will be responsible for solving complex engineering issues that may arise during the course of Project delivery. You will have the ability and knowledge to respond to technical queries, propose budgets for projects, effectively plan resource requirements, delegate appropriately and ensure cross collaboration with various other departments for successful Project delivery. The Engineering Manager will hold responsibility for all People Management activity for those within your remit. This includes supporting all Discipline Managers with areas such as: Effective allocation of resources across multiple projects; Acquiring new resources dependent on project exigencies; Commitment to Continuing Development Plan (CDP) across all teams and ensuring safe working practice in both our offices and client sites. In addition to developing and leading your high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams, you will have full responsibility for effectively managing each client relationship to ensure that expectations are met, relationships are maintained and that DPS interests are protected. From a risk management perspective, you will have the ability to analyse key stages of each project with a view to identifying / anticipating any risks which may arise. You will subsequently apply your excellent problem solving and decision-making capabilities to remove / mitigate any risk as identified. The Engineering Manager will be required to have the tenacity, flexibility and adaptability to oversee the end-to-end Project delivery in a dynamic, fast paced environment, whilst continuously ensuring the prioritization and balance of organisational, team and client needs. At all times the Engineering Manager will lead by example and demonstrate the standards and values required by DPS Engineering.



Role Expectation



Project Integration

· Oversight of design delivery on all ongoing projects.

Resourcing

· Responsible for ensuring resource requirements are identified at the Department level and that requirements are issued to CS on a weekly basis for review at the weekly resource meetings.

· Work with PMs and DMs to ensure that peak loadings are managed in line with available resources.

Safety



· Ensure Safety is at the forefront of the operation in its designs and for its personnel.

Management of Scope and Deliverables

· Support your managers in the delivery of project and ensure that output is achievable.

· Ensure all team members follow DPS Core Values.



Technical

· Ensure technical standards are maintained within the operation.

· Coordinate improvements with Engineering Director.

Codes and Standards

· Ensure personnel have access to all required technical resources.

Team

· Provide leadership to the technical team. Ensure your team are respected, protected, and worked with to achieve the project goals.

· Monitor quality of team performance and address when required.

· Ensure team members are both responsible and held to account for their activities.

· Support and mentor team members.

· Foster interoffice teamwork on projects.

· Manage team using a collaborative approach and foster a culture of teamwork.

· Promote behaviours that are aligned with all the DPS values and are compliant with all relevant HR requirement.

Schedule/Planning Work Activities

· Review workload projections into the future and work with managers to ensure consistent and timely delivery of projects.

· Work with DM’s and PM’s to ensure all projects are facilitated.

Quality

· Responsible for ensuring that technical disciplines comply with the quality management system including lessons learnt and associated continuous improvement.

· Ensuring the implementation of DPS SOP’s, Work Instructions and Guidelines.

· Ensure systems and tools are implemented.

· Ensure project reviews are undertaken and a project review plan is in place and completed.

· Ensure corrective actions are closed out in an appropriate and timely fashion.

Training and Development

· Support the departments in developing personnel to ensure the operation has the right technical mix to meet the company’s goals.

Continuous Improvement



· Support continuous improvements and introduction of new systems and procedures.

· Implement assigned Continuous Improvement projects in the operation.




Communications

· Implement monthly department managers meetings to review goals and ensure effective communication.

Branding

· Ensure awareness and Compliance with all relevant DPS Branding requirements.







- A relevant third level degree in Process Engineering or associated specialism.
- Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary project teams within the pharmaceuticals area.
- English is mandatory as well as either French or German (both FR & GE are an advantage)

- Demonstrable experience of building strong client relationships.

- Recognised Leader with a strong client network and experience with a large Project Management / Engineering organisation.
- Must have strong experience of previously overseeing the delivery and execution of several high value projects simultaneously.
- Must possess the ability to think strategically and act operationally.
- Demonstrable ability to successfully win business projects.
- Proficiency and experience with construction contracts.
- High level of commitment and project delivery.
- Ability to work as an integrator across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Self-motivated, with proven ability to understand, support and oversee business needs.
- Ability to manage workload of multiple projects of varying complexity.
- Exceptional problem solving and decision making capability.
- Strong schedule and budget management skills.
- Ability to effectively work in a in fast-paced, client focused environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, multitasking, communication, and strong presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.
- Computer literate (ability to manage internal systems as well as external).
- Demonstrable experience of resilience and tenacity in a pressurized environment.
- Committed to CPD and Safe Working Practice.
