Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for an Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) Human Rights Lead (New Consumer Health Company) (New Consumer Health Company). This position may be located in New Brunswick, NJ; Zug, Switzerland; or Singapore (Science Park).

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.      

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.     

Position Description

Supports the Head of ESG in driving the human rights strategy, governance and related disclosures through program coordination, data collection, performance monitoring, compliance, risk management and policy development.

Key Responsibilities Are
  • Program coordination – Oversee and coordinate related initiatives for human rights strategy, including supply chain transparency, sustainable supplier management, labor rights, wage discrimination, land rights and indigenous community conflict resolution
  • Data, controls & disclosure – Oversee human rights related data collection, performance measurement and monitoring against the ESG strategy (e.g., violations of safe and healthy work environment, fair labor practices and data privacy). Be the liaison on controls for human rights reporting with Controllership review human rights-related disclosures including SEC human capital disclosure, EU CSRD, CSDD, country-level MSAs for ESG reporting
  • Human rights strategy design – Drive design of human rights strategy as part of wider ESG strategy and coordinate cross-functional engagement with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., key functions, regions, UN entities, country-specific ministries, and NGOs)
  • Risk management – Oversee identification, assessment and monitoring of human rights related risks and opportunities, including assessing forced labor, modern slavery, and other human rights-related breaches across the supply chain
  • Policy development - Oversee drafting and maintenance of human rights standards and external position statements (e.g., modern slavery)
  • External representation* - Participate in external conferences across a variety of human rights-related topics
  • Other duties - Monitor the external environment/market for developments in human rights
  • Denotes external facing responsibility

Works primarily with HR, General Counsel and Operations/Supply chain on the following human-rights related topics:
  • Fair labor practices
  • Non-discrimination and anti-harassment
  • Forced labor
  • Child labor
  • Human trafficking
  • Safe and healthy work environment
  • Privacy

Qualifications

Position Requirements:
  • Degree or qualification in human rights or similar technical field (i.e., law, social justice)
  • 7+ years direct experience related to human rights, advocacy, or supply chain

Preferred Requirements/Competencies
  • Experience working with a variety of organizations (e.g., NGOs, inter-/intra-governmental)
  • Strong business acumen; 5+ years consumer experience
  • Experience working for a global organization and across multiple internal and external stakeholder groups
