As innovators in the hair and nail industry, Wella Company empowers its people to delight consumers, inspire beauty professionals, engage communities, and deliver sustainable growth to its stakeholders.For additional information about the Wella Company please visit www.wellacompany.com .THE ROLEIn this role, you will have the responsibility for ESG’s complex data landscape and structure, supporting the aggregation of all related data and activities for ESG.As the ESG Analyst, you will work with various stakeholders across Supply Chain, Procurement, R&D, Marketing, IT, Finance, HR at different levels of the organization to collect, manage and analyze Wella Co.’s data. You will support the development and change to a data driven organization.In addition, your role will be to help identify areas of risk associated with our environmental footprint and social engagement.You will report to and act as a close collaborator to Global Head of ESG in support of the ESG data development and analytics needs of the company and its stakeholders.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and improve Wella Company’s environmental and social data collection processes by collaborating with internal business stakeholders
  • Track, analyze and report Wella Company progress against our targets. Ensure accurate performance tracking against Wella Company’s environmental and social targets in its operations and across its value chain
  • Develop performance metrics, baselines, and targets to deliver on Wella Company’ s environmental and social commitments
  • Create and manage complex environmental and social databases with actionable ESG dashboards, updating, improving, and creating reports / dashboards / KPIs to bring transparency in various topics related to ESG (Power BI, Excel)
  • Continuously improve our environmental and social data quality and refine accounting methodologies. This includes collaborating with cross functional teams to collect more accurate data, and developing new methodologies, processes, and standards to drive more robust impact measurement
  • Support and execute Wella Company’s annual environmental and social metrics audit project by working with internal business stakeholders and external audit firm to assure the data for accuracy for stakeholder consumption
  • Complete voluntary reporting in a complete and timely manner by managing Wella Company’s environmental and social reporting projects including CDP, DJSI, and other ESG reporting platforms
  • Support the Business Impact Assessment data collection for for B-Corp certification monitoring and management
  • Update business information tools, spreadsheets, and presentations to ensure they reflect the latest information, and identify improvements to our workflow
  • Assure and improve the quality of our calculation engine and data points collection. This involves collaborating with our IT team that aims to automate data processing and calculations. Further, this involves actively reaching out to subject matters experts and potential data collaborators
  • Calculate and distribute the proprietary ESG Scores in a professional and timely manner
  • Perform ESG data analysis and clearly communicate it to internal stakeholders and to external clients, both verbally and in writing, by generating graphical data representations.
  • Develop innovative ESG Scoring methodologies collaboratively with a diverse team across multiple locations to promote modelling best-practice and ensure quality of deliverables. Support the creation and implementation of a roadmap for data quality improvement across Wella Company’s environmental and social strategy with a focus on People, Planet, Products
QualificationsEssential:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science, economics, engineering, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline.
  • 3-5 years of strong quantitative experience in GHG accounting, corporate sustainability, environmental science, engineering or related field with professional analytical role, ideally measuring and reporting on impact/sustainability issues
  • Knowledge of the World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development guidelines on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Protocol as it relates to measuring Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, specifically the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Taskforce for Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
  • Experience in the environmental/financial data audit/assurance process, working with large, complex datasets to support business and investment decision-making, incl. demonstrated ability in data quality control, source documentation, and synthesis of complex technical data to develop meaningful insights for clients.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a positive, “can do” attitude. Ability and willingness to distill and explain complex climate-related topics
  • Conscious of detail and numerically proficient, with natural curiosity and an innovative approach to problem solving. Solid analytical, verbal, written, project management, and presentation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages will be looked upon favorably).
Desirable:
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, incl. confidently presenting complex information to key stakeholders in ways that they can easily understand and inform their actions.
  • The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a collaborative manner with multiple stakeholders through to completion in a dynamic environment
  • The person must be motivated, disciplined, and able to work effectively autonomously and understand when to ask necessary questions
  • Attention to detail is a key component of the position. Logical mindset, comfortable with systems / modelling. Highly numerate and IT literate
  • Advanced knowledge in Power BI and Excel
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple duties and tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and have positive attitude
  • Team player and show a strong commitment to collaboration and team building
