Verisure is seeking a talented, innovative and passionate Principle Systems Architectto join our Group Technology Organization.The role will report to the Chief Product & Services Officerand will be based in Geneva.

This position offers a unique opportunity to impact Verisure’s ambitious technology development and innovation programs. Supporting the Chief Product & Services Officer, the position will play a key role in evaluating new technology, making key technology decisions, building intellectual property relevant for our business and driving architectural trade-offs for all of the products that support our services.

Our two technology sites in Madrid and Malmö, are top R&D centres in the connected smart home market. There, Verisure creates and develops services and products for home security and home automation. As one of the company’s key system architects, you will take the technical lead in diverse range of technologies and product spaces.

You will be key point of contact with the R&D team for evaluating new technologies across both software and hardware that could be strategically important for the future. As part of this process, you will liase closely with our business & legal teams to ensure that the business implications of the new technology are understood and accounted for in the project plan. Your input will be a key input to any new technology partnership or acquisitions that are being made.

You would also be responsible for creating the system architecture for new product domains, leading the technical review of 3rd party designs and then supervise the detailed designs to enable the Verisure group to deliver the most advanced and intuitive smart alarm in the world. On assigned projects, you will also assist the business team in creating technical inputs to important feature trade-offs, help to assess the impact on cost, schedule and product experience.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to zoom into technical details on new technology while being able to zoom out to see and discuss the strategic and business implications.

Responsibilities:

· Lead the technical assessment of new technologies and their application to the Verisure technology strategy and product pipeline. Create plan for assessing the maturity and readiness of these new technologies for market.

· Partner with business team to ensure technical implications of product requirements are clearly understand and documented in the appropriate way. Lead first level cost, schedule and product experience trade-off analysis for new multi-functional technology integrations.

· Review and create the computing architecture for assigned projects in smart alarm products, cameras, access control and IOT products. Partner with other engineers to prose technology solutions.

· Review and create system level requirements on assigned projects. Partner with other engineers to propose technical solutions to optimize user experience, performance, memory utilization and power.

· Setup and drive strategic technical roadmap reviews with executives of technology partners and vendors to influence and drive convergence

· Participate in technical reviews of products, providing mentoring to other engineers across a broad range of disciplines. Help solve complex system issues at the intersection of industry standards, hardware design and software.

· Influence long term technical strategy of the company

Location

Permanent hire will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Reports and organization structure

Direct report to Chief Product & Service Officer in Geneva.

Technical lead of projects, providing technical oversight and leadership to other mechanical, electrical and software engineers.

This role will be based in Geneva, with regular travel to Madrid, Malmö with significant travel to other European, US and Asian locations.

Candidate profile

Experiences and Qualifications

  • Passionate about the development of new products and services
  • 10+ years in electrical design, engineering delivery and productization of consumer electronics
  • Expert in following areas:
  • Creation of system level requirements for new products
  • Electrical component selection and evaluation
  • Electrical system architecture
  • Principles of baseband design, RF and antenna layout
  • Principles of PCB design, layout and manufacturing techniques
  • Computing system design (MCU, AP, low power etc)
  • Camera system design (sensors, lens, ISP etc)
  • Audio system design (microphones, speakers etc)
  • Mobile system design (Wifi, Cellular etc)
  • Wireless detection system design (NFC, IR and radar)
  • Type certification process (FCC, EN, CE, UKCA etc)
  • Debug issues at the intersection of EE, ME, embedded SW
  • Demonstrated experience in following areas:
  • Lead cross functional team of engineers: mechanical, electrical and software to take new consumer electronic products to market. Demonstrated experience in taking “new to company” or “new to world” technology, building the technical plan and then leading the productization
  • Lead cross functional team in making trade-offs between power consumption, computing performance and device connectivity in design of IOT devices
  • Strategic technology vendor management
  • Building products to support “software as a service” business
  • Building products in highly regulated environment
  • Ability to design for cost
  • Ability to design for ease of manufacturing
  • Ability to design for quality
  • Proven ability to create collaborative relationships with stakeholders and peers in a matrix organisation and be recognised as a value-added partner and resource, working in multicultural teams.
  • Working knowledge of IP in Europe and US
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Fluency in English
