As a key role within the R&D Tools Center of Excellence (CoE) team, the Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the Honeywell software engineering community with best-in-class tools, industry best practices and the implementation & integration of operational monitoring and visualization tools.

In this cross functional role, the candidate will work directly with the Tools CoE Application Lifecycle Management Director and has end-to-end ownership and accountability for the selection, deployment, integration and operationalization of company-wide engineering tools and applications: starting with the ideation and up to the final implementation through evangelization, hands-on engagement and coaching with the product development teams.

The successful candidate will seamlessly connect both vertically within his/her own practice, serving the software engineering community needs, as well as horizontally with partner organizations in IT, Operations and Cyber Security to improve the integration, adoption and standardization of Honeywell DevSecOps tools.

What you will do at Honeywell?

  • Lead the SoftCo Tools operations & support, define best practices, implement support process, and deploy a robust Service Desk setup for supporting SoftCo order management team and in collaboration with the XSBG Tools team
  • Coordinate SoftCo application deployments, upgrades and changes with the relevant application development teams, business stakeholders and IT, define the upgrade and communication plan for the tool’s users, send out upgrade, informational and outage notifications
  • Define, document, and deploy the data center architecture for SoftCo Tools including infrastructure, storage, compute, connectivity and necessary configuration to ensure robust 24x7 availability and uptime KPIs
  • Implement robust operational monitoring for all SoftCo tools with publicly visible dashboards and application availability status (Status page), ensure alerting is sent to appropriate stakeholders in case of application or infrastructure outage
  • Regularly assess and maintain Honeywell Global Security standards including, patching, hardening, use of standardized images
  • Document and measure SoftCo tools KPIs and report to stakeholders on a regular basis, take appropriate action to meet and exceed SoftCo tools operational metrics
  • Lead incident management investigation and root cause analysis when SoftCo tools are affected, implement corrective and preventive actions; ensure SoftCo is represented on IT outage bridges and communication channels when appropriate
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors and contractors for tools development and maintenance activities
  • Ensure a five-star user experience for the order management team, gather and address improvement requests and suggestion

Required Skills
  • 8+ years relevant experience (Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevSecOps)
  • ITIL process knowledge and good experience on application system administration.
  • Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good knowledge on Cloud infrastructure management such as Azure or AWS.
  • Scripting experience such as Python, Shell Scripting, Ansible, Terraform is a PLUS.
  • Be accurate and deliver quality - have a “roll up your sleeves and dive in” attitude
  • Experience with the common cloud environments, with a strong understanding of infrastructure as code
  • Experienced with deployment and operation of monitoring and logging systems (e.g. ELK, TICK)
  • Senior Linux and Windows operations & administration skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, highly dynamic environment
  • Quick learner and always open to work on the new tools and technologies
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstration of critical thinking
