Team Leader – Fuel Cell Systems Engineering
As the team leader of Fuel Cell Systems in the Electrified Powertrain Engineering division of FPT Industrial, you will lead and
be part of a highly skilled team driven to develop best-in-class Fuel Cell systems for FPT Industrial electrified powertrain
product portfolio. You will work in a collaborative team environment. You will be contributing to the development of advanced
concepts as well as their implementation for application to on-road vehicles and non-road applications.
Electrified powertrain includes electrified engines, electrified transmissions, battery, fuel cell powertrains and their controls.
Your tasks
- Line management, technical guidance, leadership and motivation of Fuel Cell Systems engineering team
- Build and maintain technical competency in the engineering team, determining open skills/engineering capacity gaps
and finding resolution
- Build and maintain technical relationship with Fuel Cell Systems and components vendors
- Working in a multidisciplinary team, develop and deliver best-in-class Fuel Cell System designs for FPT Industrial
electrified powertrain product portfolio
- Develop product development plan, milestones, budgets, and scheduling
- Develop design verification test plans, safety and standards compliance test plans
- Lead specification of Fuel Cell Systems and components requirements including performance, mechanical and
structural characteristics, thermal management and electrical/mechanical interfaces
- Lead FC Systems architecture definition and development, system and component modelling
- Lead FC Systems control design and algorithms development
- Lead FC Systems failure mode effect analysis and develop safety risks mitigation strategies
- Specify infrastructure requirements according to product roadmap and advise in investment or outsource test
activities
- Connect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends in industry, also monitoring market and
competitors’ product portfolio
- Develop roadmaps for future projects and products to continuously advance FPT Fuel Cell solutions performance
- Supplier management when and where necessary
- Collaborate closely with various internal departments and external laboratories and universities
Your profile
Basic Qualifications:
- You have a university degree in relevant engineering discipline
- 10+ years experience in Fuel Cell technology and its systems integration
- Hands on experience on development of FC Systems and their verification
- Thorough understanding of Fuel Cell components supply chain, and system level manufacturing/integration
processes
- Strong understanding of PEM Fuel Cell chemistry and technology. Understanding of SOFC technology is an asset.
- Cross-domain (electrochemical, thermal, electrical, electronics, structural) technical knowledge. Able to provide
technical guidance to team members on what, why, and how
- Experience with safety critical electronic product development for automotive/commercial vehicle electrified
applications
- Experience with FMEA, DVP, ISO 26262 and relevant automotive/commercial vehicle standards
- Experience in leading a high-performance engineering team
- Strong managerial, planning, and communication skills
- You have good English skills (spoken and written)
- You are a highly motivated self-starter and team-player with very good communication skills and you have the ability
to manage multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Fuel Cell Stacks and Systems knowledge
- Strong technical understanding of FC technologies
- Strong technical understanding of hydrogen storage, hydrogen and air path, FC DCDC converters, electrical
isolation, selection of electrical components (fuses, contactors, service disconnect), mechanical components like
compressors
- Component to system level modelling and simulation experience
- You could communicate in Italian and/or German
