EV Charging Service Engineer 80-100%

The E-Mobility Division of ABB is a global leader of charging infrastructure for personal vehicles, public transport, and heavy transportation vehicles. Partnerships with some of the most important players of mobility and technology underline our identity. As a Service Support Engineer, you will report to the Customer Support Manager. You will monitor the installed base of EV Chargers in Switzerland, you will perform in-depth analyses in case of malfunctioning, you will take remote action on complex systems and instruct service technicians on site. In case of complex challenges, you will occasionally work on site, in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality and satisfying customer service.

Your responsibilities

  • Performing service tasks like commissioning of equipment, identifying technical problems, making analysis through remote or on-site activity in different service categories (installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, replacements etc.)
  • Consulting with and advising customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines
  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, appreciating their needs and providing specialist assistance and solutions
  • Coordinating and executing specialist projects through planning, meeting milestones and regular reviews
  • Troubleshooting simple equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
  • Monitor the installed base of EV Chargers in Switzerland
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new service applications, equipment and methods

Your background

  • Three years of experience in the electronics industry, working as a Service Engineer with complex electrical systems
  • Sound knowledge of and hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning and repairing of complex integrated systems
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, serial communication, Modbus communication, CAN communication. A sound understanding of databases and basics in operation of Linux based computer systems
  • Understand single line diagrams and retrieve information from various sources in an efficient manner
  • An analytical mindset
  • Ability to travel within Switzerland (Driver’s license)
  • Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • A practical work education in electric engineering. Further education in Software engineering is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in German and English. French skills are a strong plus.
