As a Field Support Engineer, you will be challenged to think strategically and tactically as we deploy the latest satellite communications network. The role will be responsible for satellite gateway (2.4m antenna) installation segment including but not limited to supporting installation crew team on the field to resolve issues, training of external parties on all the installation, measurement, and tests activities, evaluating performance and driving of improvement. You will work in support of the Access program and Operations Lead. You will be expected to work closely with Deployment Project Manager and the engineering teams in Europe and in the US.

The ideal candidate will have experience with installation and tests of satellite gateway or wireless technology (microwave) that are very similar, as well as good knowledge of optical network cables and systems, with capabilities to analyze and troubleshoot issues that will arise during installations and tests of SATCOM and optical systems.

Your ultimate success will be based on your ability to effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide on site training of installation crews
  • Verify and validate installation crew quality and performance
  • Provide remote and on-site help and support to trained installation crew
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate repair of satellite gateways with different stakeholders
  • Support and coordinate the test and validation of new satellite gateway
  • Support the system level testing such as G/T, EIRP, BERT and OTDR
  • Support Deployment Project Manager with priorities and schedule
  • Report on repetitive issues, propose and drive improvement action plan.
  • Maintain and update company database(s) (e.g. Sitetracker)
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Satellite earth station/gateway equipment installation, or comparable experience in wireless communications installations including cellular or microwave
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) are essential.
  • Must be able to work independently and solve complex problems in remote locations with minimal assistance
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects, within a virtual team environment, with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of radio frequency technology
  • Experience in the operation of some of the following equipment: Multi-meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator and Network Analyzer
  • Fluent in English. French, German, Polish and/or any other EU language is a plus
  • Swiss, EU (27) Citizenship or Valid Swiss Work Permit required
  • Up to 50% overnight travel is required. Extended hours as required.
  • Have a valid driver license
Preferences
  • Experience with SATCOM or Remote Sensing Earth Observation type RF electronics, HPA’s, Converters, LNA’s, at S, X and Ka bands.
  • Experience with testing G/T, EIRP, BERT and Servo Control loops
  • Experience with monitor and control computers and related subsystems
  • Experience with Optical fiber testing mostly OTDR
  • CCNA is a plus
