Job Description


lastminute.com is looking for a Financial & Competitive Intelligence Senior Analyst reporting to the Manager, Corporate Planning & Control now part of the Corporate Development, Strategic Planning & Control and Investor Relations department. The Team serves as a centralized resource to conduct financial reporting as well as an analytical group that provides insights to internal stakeholders throughout the company.

As a member of the CP&C Team, the Financial & Competitive Intelligence Senior Analyst is an everyday partner of multiple departments at the Corporate level, including: Finance, Growth, Marketing, Human Resources, and Investor Relation.

The Financial & Competitive Intelligence Senior Analyst tackles analytical and operational inquiries by developing thoughtful and incisive analyses and reports that inform decisions and support business needs. Results must be polished and suitable for internal and external presentation.

Qualifications


Responsibilities

  • You will assist, or lead, in the development of highly dynamic, decision-informing models designed to support a rapidly evolving business;
  • You will take on a day-to-day role in the annual budget and forecast process. Work closely with other functions leaders and senior executives for the development of business plans;
  • You will design and build models such as the Company Long Term Plan and other sophisticated financial models;
  • You will analyse and identify data requirements and proactively engage with other departments or other external parties in order to get what needed to conduct your analysis;
  • You will recommend and implement process improvement measures related to financial modelling.
  • You will spot and select sources, collect info, meet experts and analyse market data and trends;
  • You will conduct scenario analysis based on the observation of microeconomic and macroeconomic trends;
  • You will monitor activity of lastminute.com listed competitors and keep your ‘ears open’ hunting for information about lastminute.com non listed competitors;
  • You will draft and present to other colleagues, top management and BoD market insights and competitive landscape scenario;
  • You will define and set up processes, deliverables and tools for Competitive Intelligence;

Job Qualifications and Skill Sets

  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, accounting, or finance; master’s degree or diploma in financial planning a plus;
  • 3-5 years of working experience in an Advisory firm or a Big Four or a corporation in the Business Planning and Control area and with a specific focus on financial modelling;
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts (P&L, Balance sheet, Cash flow) and a solid understanding of financial analysis terminology and best practices;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software), with experience and passion in building financial models;
  • A keen eye for detail and an ability to sift through large data sets to extract meaningful information;
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesise information from multiple sources into relevant, understandable and actionable insights for different stakeholders;
  • Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations simultaneously;
  • Ability to communicate ideas via reports and presentations, outlining findings and making recommendations;
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
  • Enthusiastic to apply aptitude to new learning experiences, positive attitude, commitment to excellence and integrity.
