Job Purpose

Responsible for managing R&D projects through to product launch with a strong focus on Amcor ’ s Sustainability targets. The role requires a collaborative, flexible and dynamic approach, having close links with multiple R&D teams, manufacturing sites, marketing, product management, sales and customers, in order to deliver breakthrough innovations leading to sales and profitable growth.

Job Dimensions & Scope

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for driving transparent barrier projects based on metal free barrier technology, as well as developing/carrying out materials analysis with AFM, XRF and other relevant analytical techniques.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Responsible for running R&D projects; specifically, projects will focus on metal free barrier technology to be further used in converted products.
  • Identify clear targets and project costs. Meet project plans, create regular project up-dates and monthly reports
  • Involvement and alignment with Marketing, Product Management and Sales to ensure project prioritization and budgeting
  • The role requires close links with other R&D teams to deliver finished converted products to market
  • Coordinate and support development activities with manufacturing plants
  • Responsible for the trial and sample reel budget for own projects
  • Assist Pilot Operations and Analytical Laboratories during project execution
  • Support the innovation opportunities through the preparation of innovation presentations, workshops and meetings to ensure full company alignment
  • Carry out materials testing using relevant analytical techniques, developing new methods as required

Technically complex projects requiring interface with a wide range of stakeholders; cross-functional coordination through Amcor different functions to guarantee clear targets, smooth execution and reliable roll out.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Formal Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge And Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience, preferably, in the flexible packaging industry
  • Preferred polymer / chemistry / materials science or coatings background
  • Technical knowledge on packaging materials and thin film vacuum deposition processes and surfaces.
  • Project Management experience and proven project leadership role
  • Standard knowledge of usual IT tools (Microsoft Office…)
Education and Certifications
  • Universitydegree in related science, engineering or technical discipline
  • Specific Skills and Abilities
  • Proactive and able to communicate with various stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships
  • A good standard of English is required, German preferable
