For our Automotive Products Group - Business Unit Actuation Systems (BU AS) based in Murten, we are looking for a Senior Electric Motor Design Specialist, who would develop & improve components/motors to be functionally robust, meet cost target/timeline as well as would allow robust production & assembly process.

Responsibilities
  • Support development and design processes
  • Design of electric motors (BLDC and steppers) & motor components
  • Design of magnet charging devices and magnet material selection to support in house rotor magnets production
  • Simulation of dynamic motor performance and it control, design and control optimization to achieve customer’s specification
  • Define methods and tools for tests analysis
  • Develop and select components with suppliers (Hall Effect sensors, magnets materials)
  • Technical project lead according to the company’s process
  • Support the quality issues, identification of root cause and development of solutions
  • Attend to FMEAs as an expert to advice the project teams about potential risks and countermeasures
  • Technology survey for all key components of the motors (e.g. magnet materials, cores, wire etc.)
  • Write & apply specifications for motors & its components
Requirements
  • PhD or Master’s Engineering degree in electrical domain
  • 5 - 10 years of similar experience
  • Expertise in motor design and motor control, ideally also in magnets manufacturing methods
  • Strong knowledge of systematical analysis of design problems & solving
  • Strong knowledge of MS office, software for magnet field simulation (FLUX) and dynamic simulations (Matlab/Simulink and Python)
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • German would be an advantage
