Description

Koch Minerals & Trading is looking for a Freight Data Analyst to join our Freight Trading team in Geneva, CH. The primary focus of our Freight Trading team is the entrepreneurial trading of tankers, drybulk vessels, and paper freight. This team also provides chartering support for our energy trading teams. The Freight Market Analyst will work alongside our trading teams based in Geneva, Houston, and Singapore to provide both in-depth analysis and wide-ranging analysis covering various markets.

The successful candidate possesses advanced analytical skills, in addition to their exceptional oral and written communication abilities, high level of intellectual curiosity, humility, and proven ability to work as part of a team. They will learn quickly about existing knowledge systems but also leverage their experience and skills to thrive in a challenge/debate and entrepreneurial environment.

What You Will Do In Your Role
  • Work closely with traders, analyst, developers, and data scientists to develop powerful analysis, models, and analytical solutions
  • Identify and collect relevant datasets
  • Design and upkeep explanatory data models
  • Design and evaluate trading strategies
  • Track changes to market dynamics and proactively adjust models and analysis
  • Produce predictive models and maintain forecast datasets
  • Promote a culture of experimentation that challenges conventional fundamental analysis
The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements
  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience working with time series and advanced statistics
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Shipping, Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Sciences, etc.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Plotly, Power BI, etc.
  • Experience with programming Python and SQL or like languages
  • Experience in designing experiments and conducting independent research
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a commodities trading environment
  • Experience within the shipping industry or other relevant industries
  • Experience developing machine learning pipelines in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with distributed computing, system design, and web development
  • Commercial awareness
